I have built an overclocked kernel. CPU to 1.7 ghz and GPU to 450 mhz.
I have been running it for 3 months without issue.
I also have a V6 software update that does not adjust the radio, or the kernel, just the software.
You need root for the kernel and custom recovery for the update.
Is anyone interested in this?
I have a cm10 build as well, but it has issues.
Here are some screenshots of Antutu benchmark.
Ok, here are the files:
WARNING, APPLYING THESE CAN DESTROY YOUR PHONE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. IF YOU APPLY THESE YOU ARE A HACKER AND YOU ARE DOING SO AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!
Both a non-lokified and a loki-fied image are provided. Your aboot may be different than mine, so you might need to re-loki the raw boot image.
raw boot image
loki-fied boot image
YOU MUST DISABLE THERMAL MANAGEMENT, OTHERWISE THE OVERCLOCK WILL BE DISABLED. YOU NEED TO LINK /system/etc/thermald-8930-empty.conf to /system/etc/thermald-8930.conf
YOU CAN ALSO DISABLE THERMAL MANAGEMENT via the "hidden LG menu".
Or you can post this file to /system/etc which will retain the thermal management capabilities but support the overclock in the normal temp range.
Finally, here is a VM V6 software update that does not upgrade the radio, or the recovery. I am not sure how this will affect future updates.
INSTRUCTIONS
To install the kernel, you need must use a loki version. Then, copy the file to the external sd card using adb. Then use a ROOT adb shell to the device and enter
cd /storage/external_SD
dd of=ls720.original.img if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
to save a copy of the existing boot image, and then the following to install the overclocked boot image
dd if=ls720.overclockV2.lok of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
You must have CWM installed, so if you have problems, you can reinstall the old boot image. If you do not understand the above, then DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS !
To restore the original version, use
dd if=ls720.original.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
Here is an updated overclock kernel, which limits the initial cpu frequency to the stock 1.2 in case there are problems. Also, it enables a multicore cpu scheduler which should provided much better battery life for occasional use.

overclock V2 loki-fied
my benchmark score only went up by like 800 points on antutu across all the frequencies (as compared to stock speeds)
