Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [Rom][Stock]VM Stock Roms 4.1.2

I'm using v7 with robaho OC kernel v4. I froze qslide and that appears to have stopped it from appearing. I have the tether app but have not used it since installing v7

What do you mean you froze Qslide???? I know what freezing an app is, but you got it to go away that way?? So you didn't use the modded UI?????

Splain please! :)

Sorry. Thought I had edited the post. I do have qslide framework frozen but I am also using the mod.

Hey! Have a question about this:

I have ZV7 and want the native hotspot hack, so I need to deodex. Is there a way I can deodex this without resetting the phone to defaults? Since there are other hotspot apps, if I have to reset I probably won't bother. But it would be nice to have native hotspot...

Also how easy is it to undo the "deodexing" (I.e make it odexed again) and does deodexing decrease performance? (I read somewhere that it does...)

By the way: I have root and have flashed roms before (on my Nexus).

If you are switching from odex to deodex and back with the same version, When you flash the rom, just wipe cache, and dalvik cache and thats it. :)

What are the differences between the v8 and v6 or v7?

------------

V6 was to patch software holes to keep us from rooting and using custom recoveries.

V7 removed some outdated files, add a few more, and was to patch software holes to keep us from rooting and using custom recoveries.

V8 is to patch software holes to keep us from rooting and using custom recoveries.

The software updates we've received this year are mainly to keep us from doing what we're doing. Unfortunately if we don't upgrade we'll keep getting the update nag.

v7 also updated the radio. I'm not sure if v8 did as well. I haven't looked at the update.zip for v8 like I did with v7

How much do you want to bet they throw out zv9 before the end of the year.

I'm so disgusted with LG right now. :secruity:

I don't get the update notification after installing FOTAKill.apk.

What exactly was the radio update in V7, i.e., better reception, etc? I currently have V6 (on phone when purchased) and have had no reception or signal issues. When using the phone as a modem, I consistently get 10 - 12 meg.

It seems that any of these firmware versions are about the same except for the efforts to block root on the phone.

In my V7 Custom stock ROM, I might have removed the update "nag"

Some one want to give it a shot???

I don't know what they updated with it. But your right, the're trying to block root. What they don't understand is that they can't block root. If they succeed with one version, we can just revert and get what we want anyway.

They need to focus their efforts into getting k, or l on this phone and not patching root.

But that won't happen because LG want us to upgrade to a newer phone to get kk or lollypop so they make more money with the sale of more phones.

What I am understanding is that one firmware version is about the same as the other so if v6 (or any of the others) works, there is no profitable reason to upgrade to a higher firmware version.

Basically yes. LG is trying to cover their butts on a phone that has lots of problems. The updates are to correct issue user are complaining about. Non-rooted customer that is. In the process they also fix root and spoil our fun.

Copy that. I will, however, say that I have not had the same or as many problems with this phone as others have reported. I rooted the phone within an hour after receiving phone in mail - including flashing the recovery. Had zero problems.

It has taken me some time to 'tweak' the phone to get the 'dark theme' I like to use but that's really not the phone's fault.

Anyway, it will be a while until I replace the phone as it was a FREE phone. After having several months of extremely poor voice quality on an LG Optimus Elite, Sprint shipped me the LG F3 (chose this phone over the HTC Evo as the LG F3 is 4G and the Evo is not).

For what its worth, if anyone is having problems with their current Virgin Mobile phone (including the F3), do what I did - file a Better Business Bureau complaint. I didn't even have to ask for a new phone - they just gave it to me plus 6 months of free service. Sprint is relatively desperate to keep their customers and will do quite a bit to keep them. :D

HTV Evo Supersonic? Yeah that phone was 1st generation 4G Called WiMAX. it is indeed 4G. and faster 4G than the F3 (I have an evo from sprint as well)

I may be incorrectly recalling the exact model of the HTC. I do remember when I did the research on the two phones Sprint offered me, the F3 was the only phone that was 4G (at least according to the Virgin Mobile's website).
