Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Unbrick VM/Sprint F3

I would suggest putting your phone on the charger for an hour and then try again by placing your phone into download mode and running the LG flash tool again.

You could always try to use a different usb port on your computer or try with another computer to see if anything changes.

You may have hard bricked your phone. Unfortunately when you use the LG tool to unbrick you run the risk of hard bricking your phone. You would have to contact VM or LG for a fix

Someone else on this forum may be able to help you more than I can.

Can I use these instructions (including the links to the files) to flash a T-Mobile Optimus F3Q to the stock android? Basically, I just purchased the phone from t-mobile and just want to get rid of the bloatware and go to just plain stock Android. So my questions are, will this work for my LG Optimus F3Q? What version of android will I have installed after following these instructions?

Thanks!
Ok here is my doc. Thanks to Sammyz for the guide. I just detailed it a bit further since there was some confusion on my part. I hope it helps others.

Flashing your LG F3 to Stock ROM. This will wipe out all data and applications and restore to out of box.
1) Download and install the stock drivers from LG

I can get everything except the F# ROM .bin to work. That .zip does not work once unzipped. Anyone have a suggestion to get the stock rom so I can finish this. Thanks!

Hello everyone. Thanks for the helpful information.

Problem: I'm getting the F000002 problem.

Firstly, I can't download the LGFlashTool or United Driver from box.net but I found them off of independent Google Drives. Hope this isn't interfering with the process.

About my phone: Rooted through motochopper, and I've config'd the build.prop as well as changed the boot animation and removed the Qslide. Will these things interfere?

My F0000002 error is happening at 32.5 seconds and then I get Download fail at 36/37 seconds.

Thanks!

UPDATE:
I just looked at the log for FlashTool. Getting this

"[WARNING 4] Stream download error"

Also the last line is:
[19:49:41] UpdateBinaryProcess() Error
[19:49:41] CFlash::MasterBinDownloadProcess(), Download Fail
[19:49:41] MasterBinDownloadProcess Fail.
[19:49:41] MasterBinUpgradeFactoryProcess() Error.
[19:49:41] CComPort::ClosePort, Closed Port Successfully for COM 41
[19:49:41] CBasicComControl::Close, the port(COM41) is closed successfully
[19:49:41] RunProcess() is fail.
[19:49:41] CBasicComControl::IsConnected, the port(COM41) connection is not detected
[19:49:41] DoDownload() Exception

Hope this helps. Thank you guys!!!

So I gave this phone to my buddy, rooted on ZV6 and all he used was tethering and a font installer. Phone was perfectly fine. All of a sudden it factory reset itself, and shut off when it did that, and it lost it's activation. He has no 3G but can make phone calls, receives text but cant send. It constantly turns service on and off now. SO I tried using the lg tool to unbrick..... It gets to PrimaryGPT, and says it repeatedly. And then it fails at 37 seconds every single time and gives me error F0000002. I tried to factory reset using the button combo to get into recovery so it automatically resets. I confirmed it twice to reset, it hung for 10 minutes then finally rebooted to reset. I get the dead android with the red triangle exclamation mark. It sat for a few minutes, and it is now sitting on the LG Logo with the home button led flashing.

Any ideas??? My friend needs this phone to find a job!

I would try using the unbrick method again makesure you use correct dll . Are you able to get into download mode?

I'm assuming you can get into download mode because your using the unbrick method.
Can you get to the recovery? if so, which one.

The second thing I would ask is if you can get into s/w update mode? I've gotten to it twice. Haven't figured out exactly how but i'm pretty sure you plug in the usb cable, press and hold volume down, remove battery and then replace. That may help.

Pull up your Device Manager and change it to port 41. Make sure you follow all of the steps

I did that, but I'll try it on another computer. It seems to be staying on Port 41, so I thought that wouldn't be the case. I'm guessing the error log shows otherwise.

If my computer really is set to 41 correctly, would there be an issue besides the port?

I've used this before. I know what I'm doing. Download mode is not a problems. It just gets to 3% and fails at the first step of flashing the PrimaryGPT. I can't even find any information on the internet about it...

I'm sure there would be but I don't have an answer.

Did you try changing the usb cable or usb port?

I'm not sure if using this tool will help. You can try it though. I've seen it on multiple forums for multiple lg devices. There's no reason why it won't work for our phone as well.

LG Support Tool
http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe

Let it update over the internet when you run it the first time.

Go options -> upgrade recovery

Follow the on screen instructions. Stock roms should have no issues getting the program to auto pull the settings, but if you do, just type in your IMEI. Let it do it's thing and make sure you're not on a USB hub and that you're using a quality USB cable.

parelle usb lock key not detected when i open flash tool? dont understand password and key for flash tool korean

I've tried using the LG update tool and it freezes and crashes half way through. I'm positive it's not my computer.

At this point I'm buying a new phone. But Thanks for all the help guys. Seems like we're all in the same boat.

Just wanted to thank everyone for putting this together! My phone was working fine this morning, then stopped registering the keypad in Handcent SMS. I shut down to reboot and it got stuck on the VM animation screen. NOTHING normal worked... I finally found this and voila! Whew! Happy to have my phone working again! :D

So i followed all the steps and when I came to thet actual part of opening the flash tool it wouldnt open. just said side peramiters were off. Did i forget something? getting a little worried about the phone being on the laptop so long in download mode. thanks for anyone who helps me:confused:

Don't worry about having it long on Download mode, the battery just runs off. BUT you should charge it before you attempt any other flashing, since putting it on download mode won't charge the battery.

That being said, you should stick to version 1.5.10.1120. Do a clean install: uninstall, reboot, re-install - put MegaLock.dll in its right place, replacing the old one; also uninstall LG United Mobile Driver (or whatever the .exe file is called) and re-install.

Follow these steps:

Read the readme file in the zip.

I had the same problem.
Have you tried doing the whole process on another computer that hasn't been used to flash? In other words, try using another computer, do the whole process. It worked for me.

Sounds like either a bad driver or bad USB cable. Also don't use front USB ports/USB hubs/splitters, and use USB 2.0 not 3

Yeah, maybe. Because I did it on my laptop for the first time and it worked smoothly with no problems. Then phone got bricked again, then tried using my laptop (same cable, same process) but this time didn't work so just brought it to my work and did it here. Worked with no problems.

Maybe has something to do with switching COM ports to default then back? hmmm
