Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Uninstalled Calender - Can't Get It Back

jadaru1

Lurker
Hi all,

So I have a rooted LG Optimus LG-LS720, Jelly Bean 4.1.2.

I was trying to uninstall some of the system bloatware using Root App Delete and I ended up uninstalling the system calendar...now my Google Calendar (and any other calendar app I install, including the Android calendar) won't work.

Can someone help me get my system calendar back? I'd really appreciate the help (and I'll obviously be much more careful about deleting system apps...)

Thanks!

J

It sounds like you deleted "Calendar Storage". Since that's not an app that you'll find via the Play Store, my guess is that you'll need to get it from another of the same phone model, running the same firmware version.

If you can't get it there, maybe (probably) it's an aosp app that's the same on every device(?) In that case you just need someone on the same Android version to upload it. All my devices are 4.4.2 though :(

Hello and welcome jadaru1:)
If you let me know what carrier you are on, we can move this thread to your device's root forum...you have the LG Optimus F3, correct? :)

Edit: nevermind, I saw your other thread where you stated you were on VM, so I moved it here:)
Check your pm's, thanks!

What about downloading a stock firmware, pulling the files you need, and push them to /system apk, or wherever they need to go.?

Would I download them onto my PC and then transfer them to the phone? Or download the stock firmware onto my phone without flashing it?

(I have no clue if I'm using the correct terminology here....)

Are you on the stock rom?
If so, and I would wait for confirmation on this (as I don't own your device).
Find the stock rom, either from a firmware download or from XDA for VM.
Download it to your computer.
Extract the file.
Look for the apk or calendar storage (or whatever you are missing) in the /system folder.
Move that to your phone.
Use an app such as Root Explorer to move that file to the correct partition (/system?)
Change the permissions to match the rest of the files in there.
Reboot and all should be swell:)

Like I said, I don't have your device so I'm not exactly sure where the file would be and where it should be moved to.

:D

Well.. No luck with that zip file. It downloaded as a bin file. I can't find an apk within it. LG must be somewhat different than what I am used to with Samsung
I'll try to download the rom file next but that will have to wait until tomorrow
Sorry
It's my bedtime

Well, I downloaded the .zip file from this thread:
http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...14-rom-stock-vm-v5-v6-stock-roms-4-1-2-a.html
V6 I downloaded.
I opened it up and under:
Code:
C:\Users\Mike\Downloads\Deodexed_Stock-LS720V6.zip\system\app
I found:
Calendarbin.apk
CalendarProviderbin.apk

I can only assume you deleted one of those.
Do you have one of those missing from /system/app?

Also, I can only assume you can push either one of those to your /system/app with a file explorer such as Root Explorer (an app in PlayStore) to your current /system/app, change permissions to match (if necessary), reboot and presto!!

I would wait for confirmation of my assumptions before going ahead and doing so, since LG may be a little different and I'm not familiar with your device :)
