Been using tethering for months day after day and today I got this message. Have they finally blocked it? And is it possible to find a work around? Has anyone else received this notification? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Oh the first time I clicked on this post I didn't see it. Are you using the root version of wifi tether or one from the play store. If the play store then vm will be able to detect it. The one for root allows you to use wifi tether without getting noticed by vm

BTW I'm on the interchangeable v6 rom with oc v4. The tethering apps work fine but the apps to broadcast the hotspot don't work anymore and it displays that message. I use portable Wi-Fi hot spot and wireless tethering for root users 2.07 and they have always worked

Have you found any fixes for this yet? Im having the exact same problems. Have been using jtether and wifi for root users for months with no issues. All of a sudden my connection was interrupted and when I tried to turn the hotspot back on I got the Error message. I have unrooted, done a factory reset, re-rooted (using motochopper ) and still getting the same message.

I have not found a fix yet. I have noticed that if I go to settings, more, you will see tethering settings that werent there before. I am going to try the unbrick method and see if it's something that vm is downloading to my phone. I even started a new account with them and got a new number.

Let me know if it works and ill do the same if I find a fix :)

It won't work with what he's doing/did. You need to have to right wifi tether root app but I don't know where to find it...and it's not in the play store.

You may want to try this one. Note that you may need to restore your phone from a nandroid file that has no tethering apps installed, or reflash the V5 or V6 firmware.

Also, if anyone is getting that network error message, most likely you have gone over the 2.5 GB limit for high speed data on your F3 for the month.

This isnt the case, I just started a new plan new month on a new account so there fore I havwnt reached my limit my month just started. And no matter what widget or app I use its the same results. There is something on my phone blocking the broadcast of the ap. I'm going to do unbrick method and start all over.

Just tested and my widget/app works perfect on VM.

im sure your app works perfectly fine, not disupting that. i did the unbrick method and the tethering settings werent there. as soon as i updated the prl it rebooted and they were back. im sure vm is downnloading something to my phone with the prl update to block the broadcast of the ap. if there were a way to get data back without updating the prl im sure it would fix the issue

Prl is just the preferred roaming locations. The profile is the VM addons. I've updated both and it still works...

Well I guess me and the other user having these issues are the 2 luckiest guys in the world. But either way I did unbrick method twice, the first time the hands free activation updated prl automatically it rebooted and it was there. The second time I canceled the hands free activation and updated it manually and it did the same thing. If your in disbelief I can make a video and show you step by step. Who's to say that they aren't implementing new things to stop the future use of mobile tethering.

Nah I get that network error too and I just got this phone so I couldn't have gone over my threshold. It might work on the V5 firmware. On my optimus elite I was able to use wifi tethering on it with the root wifi tether app with firmware V5

Phone must be rooted for this to work!!! This method works for LG Optimus F3, and I cannot verify it for any other phone. You must enter the SSID and password manually on the CLIENT for it to work.

1. Download: https://code.google.com/p/android-w...e=wifi_tether_v3_4-experimental1.apk&can=2&q=

2. Install

3. Open

4. Press menu button, and select settings

5. Change device profile- "Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)"

6. Set SSID name to whatever you want, as well as the password

6. Check "Wifi-driver reload 2"

7. Now back out and press to start wifi tether.

Any questions, ask. This works perfectly fine for me.

Doesn't work I've tried that. My laptop didn't detect it
