VK Rom - V4.8 XWLPD

I'm getting more problems with this ROM. Charged my battery overnight & this morning it says it was fully charged, but only showed 84% - and was the hottest I've ever felt the phone. It's also dropped 11% battery in 1.5 hours (which is a lot worse than Dragon or D4 ROM).

The screen brightness seems to have a mind of its own also. I keep on setting it at around 10%, but it changes itself back up to about 60% :S

have had no issues at all with it myself. Sounds like a full wipe and reflash might be in order

Now im curious for the next release. Andyx is beginning to annoy me too much. Terrible battery for one. Probably the worst I've known.

I'm loving this ROM. It's got one or two small bugs but in sleep mode it doesn't lost any battery percentage. I'm guessing that CheckRom will be very similar to this.

anyone know what rom this is based on? Im guessing as its in xdas android section and not original android then it must be pretty much someones rom with VKs theme over the top. But then ive never really understood the difference between this whole original and not original thing they have going on there.

I would hang fire on flashing this release just now.

There seems to be a problem in booting up after flash according to the forum, here.

I did a Factory Reset and have tried to flash this 3 times and each time I'm stuck on the boot screen. :banghead:

Back to my stock LPD nandroid.

EDIT LPD has been withdrawn temporarily. Seems there is a problem!

( I blame Hawker... I always blame Hawker! :aetsch: )

flashed it as soon as it was up, i can report no problems here at all

ill watch the thread but i can honestly say everything is working

bloody hawker, always causing trouble

yes i was i was on 4.7.2

wiped cache and dalvik, flashed and wiped cache and dalvik again, fixed permissions

rebooted and it works a treat

latest siyah has even cleared my wakelocks

Thought you might say that. It seems that those who were previously on VK had no problems with it.

Those, like myself, who were flashing from another ROM, encountered the boot loop. It is being fixed and nguyenxuanhoa will upload it when it is ready.

Only a wild guess on my part... but I bet you haven't even read the last 5 or 6 posts... have you? :hmmmm:

its getting more like xda evey day :)

and i signed up to this site cos it is soooooo much easier to read and understand

VK ICS XWLPD ROM 4.8 is up... again! :D

Problems seem to have been fixed as I have down loaded the 305MB file and installed it after a Full Wipe and it has booted up. :)

For download, installation instructions and mod's, see here.

UPDATE

Seems OK. Nice animations. Not sure about the translucent Contacts list or dial pad. I cannot seem to make a CWM Backup to either internal or external storage... Can't open / cache/recovery/log and last_log, error message. I can do a backup via Recovery though.

The CRT effect is a bit, "iffy", not quite right. The translucent Status bar is OK but a bit patchy in its application in that sometimes it is overwritten,

Have replaced the default Siyah 3.2.4 kernel, which I didn't find very good, with the latest Siyah, 3.2.5.1 to see how that fairs.

Have installed a few of the mod's for it such as, circle battery icon and centre clock. The Quick Toggle Notification bar is almost identical to the mod in my stock LPD ROM. There doesn't appear to be an extended Power Button menu, which is a shame on a custom ROM. Being able to change the font size is a good idea... although, Large, is really for the Mr Magoo's among us... very large!

All credit to the developer, nguyenxuanhoa, for not plastering his name all over the boot screen and notification menu. When you're this good, you don't need to. I'm liking this better than AndyX ROM I must say.

Early days yet. Will persevere with it and see how I get on. First impressions are good though.

Right...I actually grabbed the download link and started the download before you EDITED your post. File was removed during the download and after few tries i just went back to the forum and posted without going back through previous posts.

Flashed finally the VK 4.8 doing all the wipes (coming from AndyX) but started to get problems very soon. YouTube not working, Apex Launcher stopped working and other apps similar issues. Anyone gets the same ?

installed 4.8 earlier. Did a full wipe as i was trying the neat rom for a few days but everything installed fine and just like 4.7.1 everythings working :)

There doesn't appear to be an extended Power Button menu, which is a shame on a custom ROM. :

Once you press power off and reboot you get extra options
