Voice Actions, but no 2.2 yet - Options?

My friend with an iphone has the Nuance speech recognition SW and it's great. Looking for similar for my X, but all I see that's close is Google's new Voice Actions. It only compatible with 2.2. Is there another option until my OS is upgraded OTA by VZW? I'm not comfortable rooting.

You might try Vlingo.

Your X comes preloaded with nuance... At least for bluetooth calls. It's crap, but its there.

Vlingo is very good. I have been using it since they turned it loose for free. Had used it on Blackberry before converting to my new life (android).

The only downside is the inability to use it from the keyboard unless you are using Vlingo's keyboard, which I simply cannot use after finding better options at keyboard than stock.

But, overall, it is dead on and it's more usable for me than Google Action as I was rooted, but switched back to stock (to many bugs for now). Wait, I just went off topic.

Anywho, Vlingo.
