Root Voice Actions (with bluetooth headset) not working

I don't know if this is a CM7 issue or not, but I can't use Voice Actions with my bluetooth headset. I bought a new Motorola bluetooth headset today, and it does work in the basic sense, but not for Voice Actions. So I cannot create texts, emails, navigation, etc. with the bluetooth headset. That's the main reason I got the headset... so I could text, while driving. Does anyone else hav this problem, or is it a problem with my headset?
 
Calling voice actions (long press on the headset button) works fine for me; I've been doing it on CM7 since I first got bluetooth working. You do have to have the Google voice recognition app ("Voice dialer") loaded for it to work.
 
@tickerguy, you mean "Voice Search", right? And yes, I have that installed, and without the bluetooth, the Voice Actions works well. It's only when I speak into the Bluetooth headset is when the Voice Actions don't work. I can't say "Text... <name>", or "Email "<name>", etc. You think I should return my bluetooth headset and try a different model?
 
Same issue here. When I hit the button on my headset (A Samsung WEP490), the only command it will recognize is "Call <Contact>". If I say anything else, it just manages to coerce it to a contact's name.

I never did try on Stock though, so I'm not sure if it's CM7 or not either.
 
I know it does, but I've never had it work. It'll work to call people but I've never had it work for anything else. I use it to place calls though and it does work for that.

Cyberon has some sort of app on the market that is supposed to be very full-featured (there are a few others as well) but I don't know how good it is and it's not free.
 
@Jordonwii, you're using the headset's own voice action features, when you long press on the headset button. I'm referring to Google's "Voice Actions". For example, on the phone I long press on the search icon and the voice recorder pops up. From there I should be able to speak my command, like "Email <contact>", "Text <contact>", etc, but the bluetooth isn't detecting my voice at all.

Even if i'm in a texting or email window, and I click the little mic icon on the keyboard, it still doesn't detect voice coming from bluetooth.

I'm just wondering if all bluetooth headsets don't work like I want, or if mine is defective, or just my brand/model doesn't support it. (Its a Motorola H720)
 
No, that doesn't work as you called it from the phone. It will not connect to the headset under those circumstances.
 
Ok, I found a good solution: Vlingo app. It has an "InCar" mode, and it's pretty good. Simply press the button on the headset and it communicates with the app via voice. I can do text, email, navigation, etc and it's all mostly hands free! :)
 
Yep.

The problem with Google's base app is that it won't bring anything up on the bluetooth headset that requires confirmation on the phone. So you can dial but you can't go to a calendar or similar, as it requires confirm with a screen press.

There are third-party apps that don't have that problem.

im useing a Miccus bluebridge headset and I started having problems withstock voice dial as soon as I rooted the phone but I have no reason why that would be.
