Help VZ Backup Assist

So as of now, I'd say about 95% of my contacts are backed up with the VZ backup assist. Therefor, I rely on it.

My question is, is there an easy way to turn the tables and make them backup to gmail?

This comes up as a problem when I want to flash one of the froyo builds and am without vz backup assist.

Would I just export contacts to sd card or something?

lol PS the 2nd link leads the the 3rd link now

looks like i can only do this by exporting it form the vzw website, which will require my dad's pw since he has the master account and set that stuff up =O

Yeah you need to get into the vzw site and will need the password but then create the file I seem to recall its an excel doc and then its easy peasy to import into google. Now all my contacts are on google so they instantly re-upload when I log in even after data wipes et al

You can always setup a limited account under your Dads account on VZW, this will give you access to your own VZW backup.

True dat. Seriously though if on Android it kinda just makes sense to have your contracts also on/with google. I assume the official 2.2 will have back up assistant but it just easier and makes more sense to keep in all in google contracts. Im so glad I did it myself finally
 
well that does have my scratching me head. whenever i throw on PK's CM, the setup askes if it wants google to backup stuff... so I opt out b/c I don't know if that's going to overwrite data or something.
 
man what a pain - so apparently there is a master user name that can access all phones. To see the back up assistant data you need to log in with your specific cell number. So I tried to log in with my number, but there is a password already on it... which i may or may not have done several years ago =P

So now it's been about 30 mins and im still waiting for the temp pw to log in. =/

At that rate it'd be faster to just manually transfer them into your google contacts
