Vzw mobile recovery

I just installed it. Not too overly impressed with it mainly because it doesn't give you the option to completely wipe all your data off the phone.

Yup. The best it does is locks it and wipes your contacts. It's lock is persistent through reboots, however. It's not the standard lock. It's their own custom lock thingy. You can 'home' out of it, but it comes right back.

The lock screen says:
"This phone is locked. Contact the owner at your@emailadress.here.

To unlock this device ,please[their misplaced comma, not mine] entery our Mobile Recovery PIN below.
[PIN box]


[ok]
"

As I said, you can hit or hold home to back out of it, but it comes back up a second later.
If you REALLY wanted to, you could get some information/go on a shopping spree in the market on someone else's phone, but it gets annoying real fast.
 
Nmayer, it's a good app and I use it. I couldn't find my phone in the house so I set it to give an alarm from the web and I found it.

I guess it really depends on what you want from the app. I can use Tasker to set off an alarm based on an SMS event so that feature is not particularly useful to me. The GPS location thing I couldn't get to work on my phone, but in any case if I've lost my phone I have a pretty good idea where I've lost it or a general area to search. I could see the locking remotely being somewhat useful. My phone locks after 15 mins and wipes everything on the phone if someone doesn't enter the correct lock pattern after 20 tries though. I would like a remote wipe via SMS type thing that would nuke everything on the phone. This app doesn't do it though.

Did you use the tasker profile on the wiki? It worked really well for me (I made a few minor tweaks).
 
I will wait for HTCSense.com to go live and use their remote locate/wipe. But, I am glad to see Verizon finally came out with this...it a necessity for any smart phone with as much data as we keep on our phones now a days. I just wish it was available when I bought my DInc...it may have swayed me to have gotten Verizon insurance instead of going to a 3rd party.
 
Why do they require you to have insurance? Things like this should be standard now a days with these 'super' phones.
