My battery has been draining lately so i got better battery stats. I charged it to 100 and unplugged it. I left it over night and it was at around 60 when i got up...roughly 8hrs. There is something called GTALK_ASYNC_CONN_.com.google android.gsf.gtalkservice AndroidEndpoint that seems to be the problem. That and AlarmManager, and Event Log Service were the top 3 things that showed up. Does anyone know what these are and how to stop them? Almost 40 percent drain over night isnt acceptable.

If you want to delve into this, try installing System Tuner from the market. Best app I've ever used (Pro version). Using this, you can click startups or system apps, select Google services framework and disable all the gtalk crap... Among many other things.

For me, the best thing I have used it the data power widget. I use Yahoo's mail app and it doesn't have a setting to control the syncing. When I discovered the setting I got like a 100% increase in battery life. I would start with that. I think your Gtalk app is checking if there's a new message to show you, and thus is holding the processor awake. If it doesn't detect the data as being available, then it won't check and thus not hold the processor awake.

And I'm still learning this stuff. It's kinda neet how it works.

Yes, that's a good one too. I keep my sync disabled via notification widget, unless I'm plugged in at work or something.
