Root Wanna save memory space?

Backups take up a lot of room. Especially when you have 4-5 at all times like me.

Here is an EASY way to keep some of your backups and keep the storage they take up at the same time. Download DropBox http://db.tt/00UUTA8D and keep your backups in your drop box folder and then just download the app and access them from your phone when you PLAN on running a backup.

Now obviously you can't access DB inside CWM so keep your LATEST backup in your normal CWM folder as usual. That way if your phone gets stuck suddenly you will still have an accessible back up.

You can do this with anything you keep on your SD that isn't running on your phone. Like ROM, Kernel or Theme installs. These files take up gigs and it can add up quick. Download Dropbox and save that space. ;)

How would you access the backups that you store in dropbox, if you wanted to. Move it back to CWM backup on External SD? Will this mismatch the MD5 number?

Dropbox is an app that you install on your phone that is installed originally on your computer. You sign into DB and everything that you have put into DB is there. It goes off your log in. Take what you want out of there and copy and paste to where it needs to go.

No it won't be an MD5 mismatch. I've only gotten that error when renaming the the backup and putting a "space" in the name. Hope this helps.

yes if you rename the backup file and try to restore i, it will give you amd5 sum error and will not restore, other to that it will work. :alberteinstein:

I've re named every backup I've ever made over 4 different phones and never once got a miss match. Until i re named one and put a space in the title. That's the only way you will get a mis match.

My backups are named like this

5.12.2012.D.2rom.blitz.ics.userapps

Haha. Never once had a problem.

Oh and I've got about 50 different backups named like this so i'm fairly certain it works fine ;)

I keep 3 in my SD card, one stock bloated before I even started messing with my phone and two other recent ones. As I back up I make sure is running OK and then delete the oldest one (my backups are named as dates)

Yeah i have to name mine according to what i have installed at that time because i make backups like i'm on crack so ill get up to 5 at a time really quick if i install or change something.

The app doesn't even allow you to install it on the esteem when you go to pay store there's a msg at the top says that this can't not be installed on this device

There's a lot of people that have dropbox on their phone. It doesn't require special permissions so i would say its your phone.

i roll with box also, and got the 50gb storage back some months ago when they gave it out for the LG phones.

I missed that cut off. I wish I would have acted sooner so i could have got it.

But I saw something, or I read it wrong, that you can only up load files limited to a certain amount of mB.

Not like DB, where as you get 5GB and you can upload a 5GB file.

I might have read it wrong when I went to sign up for Box, cause I turned away after I saw that. :/

i think anything over 2gb have to be upgraded to premium, but i upload roms to my account and all was good. I'm at 6gb worth of storage atm.

Im gonna go back and check it out again, I might have just read it wrong. Isn't 4shared something similar as well with a good bit of free space?

See this is what I was looking at. It says next to "file size" 100mb to 1gb. Does that mean you can't upload a file bigger or smaller than that size?

Good news,

The 50GB of free cloud storage is exclusive to the LG Viper and other
LG devices until July 22, 2012. Some features are available with
Box Business and Enterprise only.
