Root Want to pop the cherry

Want to root for the first time. I'm a former incredible owner that never had the balls to root. I'm somewhat familiar with going into bootloader and whatnot as I'm running the leaked MR2.

My question is what would people that are rooted recommed? I just want better battery life, no bloat, and sense. GB or froyo isn't really a big deal as long as its stable. I'd also like to have netflix working again as well as hbo go. Are there any current ROMs that fit this criteria?

Yes, I'd say most, if not all fit that criteria. If you are in a 4G area and you keep 4G toggled on all the time rooting won't give you much better battery. Removing the bloat will probably help, just don't expect miracles if you want to have 4G on all the time
