Hi all,

Just rooted my phone using the revolutionary method,
i was wondering is Rom Manager still to be avoided or has it been updated
and fixed ?

i was just looking to try up some new roms .

Cheers

You do not need rom manager to try roms. This thread is still stickied. Please read the rooting FAQ in the "all things root" Sticky if you are not sure how to flash roms properly. It is actually pretty simple.

Cheers for the reply,

i was just wondering out of interest about rom manager

Thanks

Actually there's a discussion going on in the Guides Central forum about ROM Manager problems on many phones. Seems it can cause similar problems on a number of HTC devices (probably not surprising) and much worse ones on some Samsungs (permanent hard brick of some models).

The advice of the thread title still stands.

avoid like the plague then :-)

cheers for the info

Hey I too am having problems with my htc desire.
The main issue is that the apps I want to install to it says they are not compatible with my device...
Is this something to do with the rom version installed on the HTC?

Probably. What version of Android are you running?

It was a good device, but it is a very old one. Processor, storage and RAM are all very limited compared with even a current budget phone. Of course HTC now use the name "Desire" for many different phones, so if you read a recommendation do check both its date and which "Desire" model they are talking about.

As for the OS version, 2.2 came out early 2010, 2.3 in late 2010 and 4.0 in 2011. So there's not much incentive for developers to support an OS version that was superseded 4 years ago.
