They'll be red, blue or green in color and WILL show up in recorded video and maybe even still pictures. Wait until the next update or better feedback but this is real and I'm proof. 3 Droid X's and going for 4. It's starting to look like a common issue:

well I just went to look at my video to see if I had it and my camera isn't even working. Just a blank screen. The UI is loaded and I can change modes etc etc but there is no picture I've rebooted, pulled the battery several times and it's the same bummer :-( looks like a need to go to VZW tomorrow. The heck with your dead pixel :-)
 
This is a very widespread issue...i have the same pixel problem and i just ordered a replacement from the local vzw store...the rep who helped me decided to check his camera on his x and he had the same issue...also another friend of mine who has an x has dead pixels...so that's 3 for 3 of ppl i've met with an x

I was gonna wait for a software update thoug until.i realized i had a white spec underneath my screen that looks like it can be wiped off but it obviously wont...stuff like that is real annoying to me so i decided to take advantage of my warranty. :)
 
Has anyone with the dead pixels tried a different camera app from the market to see if it's still there?
 
This has been discussed in other threads.

A lot of us have updated and have no dead pixels. If it was caused by an update, it'll be fixed by one. If it shows up on one dark/bright screen, but not another dark/bright screen, it's not a problem with the phone and you're wasting Verizon's resources.

Yes.. read the thread in troubleshooting about this issue. Try the scanner application.. you don't see the dead pixels there, and its using the camera hardware.

That clearly indicates to me its a software issue.

You mean software?

But I have the colored pixels in my camera. Use 360 camera i think its called and they won't show up any more.
 
no such thing as dead pixel...only software problem...once you exit the camera mode, there is no dead pixel you speak of.

Wasting resources my ass. Verizon and Motorola told me to return the phone BOTH times. After calling them with problems on the 3rd DX with WiFi problems the rep at Verizon's exact words were "I'd push the Wal Mart return policy to it's fullest and get another phone". How's that for "wasting resources". I do what they say so my warranty holds. Plus, they already credited me for inconvenience. At the rate I'm going I'll get my phone payed off.

Just on your vid recorder? Go ahead and play it on your TV or computer next and report back here with results please. Also note if you had videos before the update and whether they had pixels in them. Thanks.

I could not even see the red pixel in the picture posted in this thread until it was enlarged and a big circle was around it....even then, I could barely barely barely tell.

But you know its software so just deal with it and let someone else get a phone. ;) I mean really is that little tiny dot really going to ruin your memories if it's in a few of your movies?

You could go through a lot of phones before they fix it. :(
 
I have a small blue dot on my camera and cam corded. I can only see it if a look hard for it or on a black screen. I took a pic its.not.there. is this a dead pixel. Should i worry or return phone. Or will software take it away. Thanks

If it's only on the camera app and not on other screens, then don't worry about it. It's a software bug and not a dead pixel.
