Root Was there ever a fix for the trackball issue?

I have my eris rooted running Froyo v 34. I wanna update to a newer rom but I can't use recovery because my trackball doesn't work in recover. it works fine when the phone is running like normal but I can't use my trackball in the root menu.

I haven't been on here in a long time I was just wondering if there was a fix for this yet. I got my phone on Craigslist so it's not like I can take it back to Verizon and return it. Could I go there and show them the root menu and show them that the trackball doesn't work? Or will they look down at me since my phone is rooted?

thanks,

Sorry SC, Don't know how to do that. :(

lol...no problem...(it took me a while to figure it out too :)).

When you do the reply and have the URL copied, just click on the little blue-ish globe with what appears to be a paperclip but is actually a link and paste-in the URL and voila', linkage! ;)

Does that help? Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Actually, you can just paste in the URL in the messages box without the globe/paperclip control and, so long as you have spaces before and after the link, it will automatically create the link for you after you hit post.

Just testing.
The first link is how Scary said to do it (which I've never used before). The second link is the way I've always done it - which is to copy the address from the browser like Scary said and then just ctrl-v to paste it into the message.
Both ways seem to work just fine. :)

I think I recently (last couple of months) got into the habit of using the globe/paperclip is that IE8 handles the pasting of the URL for you (i.e., turns it into a link automagically), but FireFox does not (which I've been predominantly using at home).

Cheers!

Ah, I see. I'm a Google Chrome kind of guy, and it makes the link also.
I can see where the globeclip ( :) ) would come in handy on Firefox.

"globeclip"--yes! awesome catchphrase :)

I had some really weird stuff yesterday with trying to reply to a few posts on XDA...my IE6 (sadly, yes...) wouldn't display the helper icons, etc. (including "globeclip")--they showed up for a second and then all disappeared! Very weird, but I think its obviously because I'm using an old browser here at work and XDA has changed their site.
