Help Was Triumph actually rebranded?

True lol... But I meant more since the OV is like a year old... And its still on 2.2 although the triumph is half a year old and still on 2.2 :/

the OV has specs that date back to early android phones running donut and 2.0

the Triumph has specs that will carry it into the future, much like other phones in its class. like the Thunderbolt and Droid Incredible 2, both released to be "relevant" for much longer by being powerful enough to handle new software and upgrades.

Yea well even the G1 can handle ICS... just saying. I mean not that well but still, that's not the point lol. But I can see what you mean... But what about the Wildfire S? It has pretty much the same specs...

Releasing the actual source they used to build the latest shipping phones probably takes the least effort for them (shipping phones have .39, they released .38 version). Enough noise may be able to get that much, not sure if it'll help anything else, except maybe get HDMI, a big maybe. Everything else works better in CM7 already.

The only thing that didn't work in that rom was data... Calls and sms worked fine. Its strange, but its the truth.
Do you happen to have a link to that thread? Whyzor, do you think you have the ability to dissect that ROM and maybe strip the radio? Or are radio calls too far embedded in the rest of the ROM for it to be useful?

marc, you know about stability with that ROM? Source available for it? This is news to me! I thought the entire radio was down.

I remember Tickerguy was looking at a cherry magnum GB ROM to possibly port and found it would be easier to get CM7 working. So I am guessing that the changes needed to make it work would be immense. If I remember correctly he said the radio didn't work at all, but that might just be me remembering incorrectly. And the trouble was that the ROM was closed source so it wouldn't be easy to work on.

Here's the XDA thread about it: Andro-ID V3.3-RC3 - by tj_style - xda-developers

Here's the AF thread about it talking about it on our phone: http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/403007-rom-andro-id-v-3-3-rc2.html

I ran it and it seemed very stable I didn't have any problems. Source IDK you could probably pm them over on XDA. The only thing is it seems to lack a bit performance wise, but other than that its a nice rom, just I use data so I can't really use it as a daily rom.

Hey guys!!
Triumph is cdma all other varients of this phone are GSM.
This model is built by Foxconn, a Korean company.
Triumph has an added gorilla glass I guess.
And about the developments , either if its a port of a port of a port ....or ... a direct port. It doesn't matter since all drivers n modules are changed. ;)
Thicker guy n issac87 worked in triumph to get it ported.
Similarly tj_style worked on GSM version to get a andro-id rom.
He wrote drivers specific to the device so we (yes I use a GSM version) have HDMI n FM radio working in that rom ..plus he released a miui n cm7 which had all working. ;)
Now another devs came with different kernels n roms n we have a Ics pre alpha now. .. don't worry waysor is trying discussing with edowar to bring it for triumph ...
So what my point here is .... these devs they share n discuss everything n give credits to each others just to keep all of us happy ...
Dont forget when this phone was announced it was the best in its class for the price ...
Now tj has the source for a new kernel which will make our phone run smoother n better ...

PS: lol I was reading from beginning n wrote this reply ...but now I see the guys I mentioned is already talking here n all things I said ppl knew already ... :) so pls consider this as a roundup of what happened hehe

The big reason I want to know if the Triumph is re-branded, is that who we should write to ask for ICS for this phone. I know shooting for ICS and not GB is reaching really far, but I'm hopeful, as the accessibility improvements in ICS mean the world to me being visually Impaired. ICS actually gives Android adjustable system-wide font sizes, which I'd been pushing Google for, for a long time.

For an official release it doesn't matter if its rebranded or not in our case it would still be Motorola with the help of VM.

Just curious, have you used the GO Launcher, Go SMS Pro, and Go Launcher Fonts?
