Help Water Damage Warning! Protect it now!

OK heres the deal guys,

My EVO DOES NOT have any visible water stickers on the exterior of the phone (not including the cover, obviously).

My phone was recently bought at a store, so It was obviously a fresh shipment.. so in this case, my phone is 2 weeks old in my hands, and Im assuming about 2 more weeks in production and shipping, so Its about a month (if my math is correct) old.

So if youre still with me, what this means is that YOU CAN most likely take off your sticker on the outside of the EVO, and nobody should ask you questions, as Im assuming all the newer units come without stickers on the outside.

ALso, be warned; that one of the screws is taped over with a very hard to see thin-tin sticker, its black, and on mine its the screw nearest the Volume-Down key, so consider that before opening your goliath of a phone.

I find it odd that most manufacturers/companies are now putting those stickers right about the place your mouth is next to when you talk...making it easy for just your breath to make that darn sticker turn. I think that is why there are so many complaints that people never so much as have their phone in the steamy bathroom and yet it still has turned.

Personally, I think it's a conspiracy to make you either a) pay for the insurance through your carrier and/or b) give the companies an excuse to not fix your phone....they can always just say it's water damage.

Well, I don't know if Sprint changed this, or if my brother just got lucky, but...
my brother broke his volume rocker and went to Sprint to see if they could do something about it. The first thing Sprint (the manager) did was open up the battery door thing. It turned out that it was triggered. The manager asked if we knew how it got wet, and we didn't have a clue. The manager just said that that's okay, and asked what color Evo we wanted (he got the white one). It went pretty good.

I just took mine off and put them up. That way no problem with covering them up. I had the Pre and upgraded to the Evo. I just put mine on the keyboard of the Pre and closed it and put it in the drawer. Easier to just take them off and put them up somewhere. That way if they say water damage I can say but I have two indicators that arent water damaged so how did water get past the two on the outside? Just my opinion.

water damage, is a catch all for the repair depot not wanting to do any work. I have been with Nextel/Sprint since before there was a Nextel/sprint only Nextel and sprint. I have had many a device since when Nextel was for tradesmen. a rugged phone for rugged work. But water damage I have had many a damaged phone, but never one dead for water. I agree that if it were to die from water nit would be my bad and got to Insurance. The Evo My phone of choice NOW is known to have a defect on the charging port, well documented and far and wide published. What would happen if I brought my EVO to a repair depot, with this problem, the tech would open maybe find water tripped indicator, and BAM no Effin way he would say water damage get a new one with insurance. where and how did the water damage have anything to the with a known factory deffect?????? it is just a way to get out of fixing it. cracked screen that is an easy fix has nothing to do with water damage but again they more than likely will not fix. This is when someone has to get involved with this problem........I again agree that water damaged DOA unit is a call for insurance claim. but other damage should be fixed.
