Help Way to Avoid GB Update?

I made the mistake of checking to see if the update is available and I clicked 'later' and just checked my phone and an hour later it's at 66% done with downloading updates. I do not want the update at this time and I immediately put it in airplane mode and then rebooted, but it picked right back up. How can I kill that download process and prevent it from happening until I decide I want it? Possibly when the download is done it will ask if I want to do the update and I can say no and not be prompted again?

i think it will prompt you if you want to download it, but i know most people had to check for updates to get theres, and if you did that, you already accepted the OTA.

but im not sure, you might get lucky and it ask you if you want to accept it, if you do you can always sbf back to froyo, they left us with that option with this build of GB

After the download it asks if you want to install it now or postpone it for an hour, I picked postpone. Any way to blow away the download and prevent it from asking again in an hour?

Yeah, you can download 596 deodexed and avoid the ota ;)

If you do the 596 deodexed version can you do Wi-Fi tethering?

I found the Blur_Version.2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US.zip 111.81MB file in my /cache folder. I'm going to delete that and see what happens in an hour.

I do have a few things like Amazon MP3 frozen. Would that prevent the update from running? I heard it did for Froyo, but wasn't sure about this release. Already deleted that file, bad idea eh? Wasn't that the new update? What's the problem with deleting that file?

If you have any of the preinstalled apps frozen, moved, deleted, renamed, etc, the update should fail like it did with 2.2. That's what I'm counting on since it downloaded the update on it's own and will try to install probably when I'm asleep.

that's just your Froyo install file

useful for going back to stock Froyo, obviously

Ah thanks for the info, figured since it had the modification date/time of when the download of GB completed, that was the new install file. Was that just the base installation that I can download from Verizon somewhere or does it change based on what you install/modify?

The good news is that it did not auto-update overnight or anything like that, it just asks me every 12 hours if I want to update.
