We get kit kat!!

This is pathetic. I've had this phone a year and a half and not one single update has pushed out.
I know people with older phones who have a far newer version of Android.
This sort of thing makes me really consider getting an iPhone.
 
I bought my Razr Maxx HD directly from Motorola just before they released a new version of the phone. I always loved its long battery life and recommended this phone to everyone over others. No mater what kind of fancy screen or applications you have - the battery life is very important for me. It is sad that we are abandoned like this.
 
I have at least another year plus on my contract, 8/15. So a bit of a wait for the latest is fine. I'll eventually be updated to wait for my next phone. My old one was on like Android 2.6.35 so what I have for now is great.
 
Still rockn' the RMHD and nothing else has even tempted me yet. Most of the new phones are to big. The Razr Maxx is to long as well and not enough of an upgrade to be worth it. The Moto X is a nice phone, but lacks in the specs. Even the S5 and M8 don't tempt be - definitely to BIG.

We'll see what the Moto X2 has in store...
 
i wonder if somthing is going on now with kit kat coming because out of no where this week my signal really sucks.
 
My phone got so slow and non-responsive even after a FDR that I finally had to give up on it. I miss it so much. Hoping a KK update will let me come back to it.
 
Have you tried running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them)? If the problems stop they are caused by an app(s) that you added.

Battery saver apps are notorious performance killers. They kill an app that is auto restarted and they kill the app that is then auto restarted and ... . This just goes on constantly.

Clearing the Data Cache Buffer (where temporary files are stored) periodiclly7 (like once a week) can help.

Having run cm11 now for over a month I can say I'm fully satisfied. They have released the first M snapshot version which is not considered a nightly build. Im running that. The only bug I can find is the camcorder has a hiss. If you shot video a lot, that would be an issue at this time. Otherwise kk is unstoppable. It even handles the Facebook app which is the worst hog. "OK Google"works from the home screen. I don't know if there is a way for locked bl phones to install using safe strap. Mine is unlocked but ss is how I installed kk on the bionic and RAZR.

How do you clear the data cache buffer?
My phone is seriously laggy at the moment.

From vzw website ...

Performing a wipe cache partition removes any temporary files that may be causing an issue with the device. All personal files and settings are not affected by this option.

  1. Power the device off.

    If the device doesn't respond to input, press and hold the Volume Up/Down then press and hold Power button. When the device screen goes blank, release the Power button while continuing to hold Volume Up/Down then proceed with step 3.

  3. When presented with the Boot Mode Selection Menu, release all buttons.
  4. Press Volume Down to select Recovery then press Volume Up.
  5. From the Droid triage screen:
    1. Press and hold Volume down.
    2. Press and release Volume up.
    3. Release Volume down.
  6. Select wipe cache partition then press the Power button.

A few weeks means more than two usually so not this month most likely. So no holding breath here.

Tried this, couldnt get it to go to the boot screen
 
I don't have this phone. On the three models I do have I found that the process is a little persnickety and different for each model (X, Bionic, Maxx).

Try it a few times form the beginning.

End of April is now upon us and still no update. It seems there are a few bugs in 4.4.2 that are addressed in 4.4.3. It would be nice to see this even newer version but since this has not even made it to the Nexus systems I doubt we would see that without another long delay.

I love this phone. Yeah, it's a bit under-powered when loaded down with apps, but I'd like to see the update for it in my lifetime.
 
The unofficial word in mid April was in a few weeks. Hopefully that means this month. The flip side being 4.4.3 supposedly has quite a few bug fixes from 4.4.2 and still is Kit Kat. My thoughts here is it would be nice to have it sooner than later but I would love to see us get 4.4.3 and the fixes.

I also though have a Nexus 10 and they have not seen 4.4.3 yet. My guess then has to be it will be quite a while, if ever, our phones are so graced. For now it still is just a waiting game.
 
Per David Schuster, it will be 4.4.2. He said they were too far into testing to change it to 4.4.3 at this point. There is no reason to believe 4.4.3 will ever happen for this phone, unless the soak tests for 4.4.2 show too many bugs and the next update is needed. I would guess that could add 2-3 months to the roll out, though.

Also, David said he would have good news at the beginning of next week (5/12).
 
It would be nice to see it next week. I figured 4.4.3 would place quite a waiting game on us. My guess is we should be happy that even 4.4.2 is making it to us. Still bug fixes would be nice to have, even if the new dialer doesn't make it.
