Help weird memory problem

I have a problem with my internal storage on my Wildfire S.

When I check my internal memory, I only have 14 MB free of 150 MB (I thougt that the wildfire S had 512 of internal storage?). Which is impossible, because I only have like 40 MB of apps installed on my internal storage.

I used App 2 SD free to move every movable app to my sd.

I get a "insufficient memory" error when new apps are being installed.

please help

Nope, internal memory for Wildfire S is 150 MB. And some of that space would be occupied by apps preinstalled by HTC. You should have some 100 MB free when you have just bought the phone.

Hi,

RAM is different from internal storage. RAM on the Wildfire S is 512MB and is used by running (and cached) processes. Internal storage is where the applications are stored and on a new Wildfire S, the free amount of internal storage is about 114MB I think.

Ben.

The box says RAM 512mb and underneath says ROM 512mb

Insufficient Memory error. I have this logged as a complaint with HTC and they touted Icecream sandwich as a possible fix. Anyone know if this would be a solution?

Anyone know why we don't see 512mb but more like 140mb?

Do we have a case for miss selling/unfit for purpose?

There is 512MB there, but some is lost in the way the space is formatted and taken up by the ROM itself. They're not technically lying when they say the space is there, just being economical with the truth

I doubt the Wildfire S will get ICS, the only HTC devices that have been announced as getting ICS so far have been the Sensation series and the other newer, dual core phones. I could be wrong as theoretically any device that can run GB can run ICS. I could be wrong though.

I suspect the operator told you that just to get you off the phone ;).
