Help Weird message coming up about streaming on EVO

This morning, I had a notification about streaming. So, I clicked it and got this message (truncated):

Streaming on your HTC EVO Device

Streaming quality on your HTC EVO may be impacted by a known issue with the Sprint carrier network. To resolve this issue, please contact Sprint at [number]. Let them know that you are having trouble with streaming multimedia on the HTC EVO with software version 3.70.651.1.

Then there are option buttons: Call Sprint or OK.

First, I don't stream multimedia. So I really don't care.

Second, there's no indication that this is from Sprint directly. Instead, it seems to be a prompt from a media provider - although there is no indication which app may be the source of it.

Anyone else see this or have any thoughts on it? Thanks.

Sprint and HTC are aware of the streaming problem, you are not the first to get the message for sure, sprint is stating that HTC is working on an upgrade that will or should in theory "fix" the issue, but it is HTC sending out the error message not sprint, hope this helps!

No, it's actually the Amazon MP3 app and here's a screen cap:

I know it's the Amazon Mp3 app because I hit the home button then went to the task switcher and that was the most recent program. Selected it and the message was displayed again. In case anyone is wondering, I grabbed this screen cap on my UNROOTED Evo with Shootme ...

OldDogEyes seems to be correct - at least from my experience.

I just yanked the battery and put it back in, turned it on, and the notification came up in the notification bar, and the notification had an Amazonish "a" icon. And I just installed the Amazon MP3 player yesterday or the day before.

Amazon is unprofessional for giving a notification and not clearly stating its from them and for, apparently, pushing their streaming service and trying to get users to do their own job for them. I hate companies intruding on my device with their own agenda. Looks like I'll be dumping that app.

Not that I agree with Sprint's approach (whether unintentional or otherwise) that may disrupt streaming. But Amazon should find a better way than presenting a faux system notification.

ah i do stand corrected , thank you- because it was sprint who informed me that it was HTC sending out the message, you would think due to past experience i would know that sprint has issues stating that they just dont know. I do apologize for incorrect info!

I wonder how many posts this is going to generate...someone posted the msg in troubleshooting yesterday. It's neat to see that they are being somewhat proactive...the issue popped.up last year and fix has been floating around for a while now.

Im assuming that sprint was playing "who cares who I tell you, it wasnt us"...lol..... I would say that I have never dug down deep to root my phone or been brave enough to attempt to so (i have it done for me ...yah im a wuss) def listen to the others when they stated it is amazon-im new to my EVO (not new to android phones) but having a hard time w/some small issues-so if there is a fix, could someone give me small hint please.

Only do this if you don't use Amazon mp3. Go to manage apps., find Amazon mp3, delete cache, delete data, force stop and then uninstall updates. I've done this about a week ago and no more notifications. The only annoying thing is when you update apps., it is always at the top because, well it wants an update. Do not update!!! hope this helps guys. :)
