Welcome Huawei Ascend users!

can you give me step by step to everything? cuz im lost already

Sure

Step 1:

Download, Extract, and Transfer the contents of this zipped folder to your phone. You can simply do this by plugging your phone in via usb, and dropping the rootexplorer.apk into your download folder.

Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1239859/Root%20Explorer.zip

Then, go into file manager, Tap the SD Card Tab, go to download folder, and install the root explorer.apk

Step 2 : Download, Extract, and Transfer the contents of this zipped folder to the same download folder.

Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1239859/Talk App and Services.zip

Step 3: Go into root explorer, navigate to your SD card, then to the download folder where you will find the following files

1 gtalkservice.apk
2 talk.apk
3 talkprovider.apk

These are the 3 you just transferred over.

step 4: Long press on one of those, and click copy or move. Once you click copy, you will see your next option on screen is to paste. Click back 2 times, and scroll to the bottom and you will see system, click system, then click apps. Paste that into apps. Then go back to the download folder again inside your sd card, and do the same for the remaining two files. Once all 3 are moved or copied into the /system/app folder, reboot your phone, and try to download something, if you get the force close error still, then do a hard reset.

I do not see why not =D

Normal Reboot: Hold Power button, and click power off =D, then turn phone on.

Hard Reboot: Turn Phone off, hold volume up, send button, and power button, soon after you feel the vibration, a menu will open up. Reboot

i cant extract the downloads

does it actually say extract or something else cuz i cant extract anything

No, you do not need to extract the .apk files. I took them out of the zipped folders for you

Transfer all 4 to your sd card.

Your going to install rootexplorer.apk only, then then move the other 3 as they are into /system/app using root explorer. I am leaving now for work, I will be back a little later

I had the same result.Try reading the Z4 ROOTED CRICKET ASCEND THREAD,&wait for NY11725 to get back on-line&talk to him.He definitely knows what he's talking about! You'll be back on your feet soon,he was of tremendous assistance with me&my FUBAR situation! All is well with my phone now.

If you are talking about root explorer, on the to right is a button that enables you to put them there. You need to change it from read only to write

The Huawei Ascend isn't ever going to be the fastest phone around. It will be faster when the 2.2 upgrade is out and that should be any day now. If you are using a live wallpaper that could be causing a lag for you. Also, some widgets cause your phone to lag.

Are you turning it off at night when you put it on the charger? Without knowing what apps you are running and which stock apps you deleted there is no way to know why your phone is lagging.

Do you have MetroPCS or Cricket? Metro tends to lag more in some areas than others.

That's about all I know to say.

I hope you are enjoying it anyway! :)

I haven't had the Metro experience but I have heard that there are some times of day when a metro phone will lag more than others. Don't know how accurate this is but just what I've heard.

Did you change anything that you can think of that may have affected it's performance? Like...download anything new from the Market? You might backtrack and see if you can uninstall anything and get it back up to snuff.

How do rooted users upgrade to 2.2? Just curious what steps will be needed, and would that wipe the phone?

When you get notification that the 2.2 upgrade is available it will probably be necessary then to unroot and reset some things to the factory settings, such as the CPU, etc. (You can reroot once you have the 2.2 upgrade in place)

I don't think it will 'wipe' the phone at all. You will still have all your apps and basic settings, contacts, etc.

The unknown is how you will receive the upgrade. It may be different on Cricket and Metro but I think it will come from the carrier and that you won't have to download anything.

However, this is speculation mixed with info I have seen posted on other forums so nothing is set in concrete.

I don't think it's going to be a problem whatever the case. I hear it will be any day now. :)

How do you unroot?

Does the app you rooted with give you the option to unroot?

The way I did it did not require to install anything on the phone, it was all done through the computer, and did not have a option to unroot. I am installing z4root now anyway to see if it gives me the option to unroot.

Does SC1 stand for SuperClick One? And is it available at the market?

When I open up my z4root application it gives me two options now that I am rooted.

First is: re-root

Second: unroot

I would suggest finding the app you used and downloading the app onto your phone and seeing if you have the option to unroot on it.
