Root Well, lets get the ball rolling

So I've come to the conclusion that my drivers may have gotten corrupted in the download or something. Would somebody please do me a HUGE favor, and upload the version of LGNPST they used, their .dll, drivers, and files? I just don't know what else it could be, because everything has been set up perfectly on two different computers, and as soon as it hits 11% the flashing comes to a screeching halt :(

You check your downloads with those MD5s?

Yea, I have a progress bar, so it seems promising... now for my next stupid question... next step tells me to push things over? Isn't ADB another program entirely? (Sorry to sound dumb, but rooting my OV involved using gingerbreak.) I am not quite sure what it means to push more over.

Edit: And the phone restarted completely at about %80 progress, but the progress bar is still moving... This normal?

Mine restarted when the progress was about 86% and the phone just kinda started up normally and sat there while the progress bar went on up to 100%. It still worked fine though.

And, yes, adb is another program. It comes as part of the android SDK, which this guide doesn't walk you through setting up.

I have a question, not sure if this is the right place , anyway, now that I've got root, is it save to do a factory reset without losing root or bricking phone? I know you can from a custom recovery, but not sure with a stock recovery. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have a few times cause I been messing with stuff..... Factory resetting won't become an issue until we get a custom recovery then it becomes a no no

adb is used in the command prompt. If you have windows 7 or vista, go to start, and in the search bar type in "cmd". there will be something that shows up in the search, click it. Then type in what the tutorial says, but make sure to go to your adb directory first. Push is kinda the same thing as "copy and paste".

K, moved it all to the ADB folder, navigated there...

Push su "Stuff flys by in SMD, assume it went"
Push jc.sh "Same as su"
Shell chmod blah blah "permission denied"
ADB reboot. "stuff flies by like its doing something again, but phone does nothing visably?"

This good bad, or indifferent?

Please follow the step-by-step guide which I just gave you a link to.

Yup, they all matched up perfectly. This is very disappointing, I've been looking forward to this for weeks.

Hey Hashtag, did you ever try checking the DLLs with Dependency Checker?

One thing I did after checking one of the DLLs in Dependency Checker was copy IEShims.dll from C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer to C:\Windows\System32

I don't know if it will help though, it's just a thought...

I just downloaded dependency walker(It was the first thing that google gave me), and when I opened the VM696 dll it came back with errors -_-

Oh yeah, sorry, it is called Dependency Walker..

You should specifically check the DLLs in the Components 4 folder

Dependency walker says that it is missing "LGNPST_GENERICMODEL_VER_4_0_11_0.DLL"...I looked in all the folders and could not find this .dll

Awesome Crippler! Nice job on that :P

Could somebody please attach their "LGNPST_GENERICMODEL_VER_4_0_11_0.DLL" for me?

I guess next step is to wait for a ROM, and redo this to my wife's phone, and make it look easy because I totally knew what I was doing the whole time. >.> Thanks so much again guys. ^^

It's because you're using 64-bit Windows.

All the DLLs, just in case - Download GenericModel_DLLs.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

:DDD Thank you for those! And hopefully once I reinstall all of these things it will work out. The past couple of weeks I have installed tons of LG drivers, programs, etc. So I'm taking them all out right now, cleaning the registry and hard drive of everything LG, and then im gonna start over fresh and hope for the best.

You might try registering them with the copy of regsvr32.exe which is in C:\Windows\System32 instead of the copy in C:\Windows>SysWOW64

....just a thought.
