Help Welp, 3rd phone now T_T

I've had to do alot of returns today with this phone T_T

First one - the signal would randomly drop out, and I would have to reboot to make it work

Second - Dead pixels

Third - (One I have now and have to return) is..well...weird to explain so I made a picture.

Imagine the left square is a phone showing a normal blue image.

The right phone is what mine looks like (with this weird ring)

T_T

I think Radio Shack is getting tired of my face by now.

Is anyone else having these kind of problems?

*EDIT*

Decided to make a video showing what's actually going on

Now that realy sux:dontknow: hope your 4th phone works

Strange, At least it's demonstrable so Radio Shack can't say much.

Yeah.

Last phone it took them like, 15 minutes to find the dead pixels on my other phone. Then I had to go to ANOTHER Shack because they didn't have anymore...and I got the last one at the other place I think....

So now I have to drive like, 15 miles out to get another T_T

Ugh

I feel your pain... Had to drive 30 miles to get my first one (60 miles round trip). Got home, tried to activate, VM says that ESN is already active on another account, even though I peeled off the seal on the box myself.

Had to drive another 60 miles to exchange it.... made them activate and check it out while I was in the store, then made calls and tested 4G in the parking lot.

Took me two hours total, 140 miles.

I may have broken a few speed limits along the way, but I'll plead the 5th. :p

I guess I'm not the only one who has gone out of their way for this phone lol. Besides the random cell cutouts and the problems ive been having, i still like this phone more then the triumph

Wow man. That really sucks. Nothing worse than having expensive toys break. (First world problems)

Yyeahhh T_T The one I have now isn't technically broken, more then just a really annoying problem with the screen, but since I spent 300+ dollars on this thing, I just wanna make sure I have a good one :P

I'm about to be getting my second one. My first one just got worse and worse. It began rebooting so frequently I was basically unable to even use it. I was actually pretty upset over this as I'm not very happy with the idea of returning a phone. I do it if I HAVE to.

I'm waiting on my guy to show up with my shiny new one. I'm really hoping this one will be better. After reading about your situation, I'm feeling a little anxious.

Been a whole 7 days and my 3VO is still behaving well, did have the SMS error that a lot of you were experiencing as well. Since that has been cleared up I have had nothing but a great experience with the phone. I have never seen the rebooting only when I tell it to reboot when holding down the power button. Just got my Ballistic SG series black on black case for it, really makes the phone stand out looks like an EVO on steroids now. :D

What is the issue with all the problems everyone having? it's like 1/2 hardware problems and 1/2 software (VM) issues.

I thought all the "new" VM branded units came out on the 8th, a couple days ago? Shouldnt have have fixed many of the problems on the VM software side?

I'm wanting to come over form my Droid X on Verizon but all these comments are making me paranoid!

Honestly it appears to be mostly software.

In all honesty I think they rushed ICS and VM software for this phone. I also think that It's highly probable there will be an OTA fix.

I don't think they did enough beta testing. I could be wrong but it certainly does seem that way considering how many people have this problem.

Fingers crossed, my first Evo V is still working like a charm and no reboot problems at all, goes days. Sorry to hear you're having troubles but at least you haven't reached my count of 5 exchanges on the Triumph, that was a headache.

Oh god, don't even get me started on the triumph. I exchanged it at least twice a month since it came out

I'd actually got a good triumph from day one. With a bit of sprucing up via mods, It wasn't all bad for me.

Day two: No reboots. Put it to the test and travelled with 4G on. Signal doesn't fluctuate as much and phone seems stable. So far so good....

It gets weirder. I had the same problem as your third device (with the faint outline near the edges of the screen). It wasn't bad enough to bother me that much. Today I unlocked my bootloader, rooted the thing, and put Mobster Rom V 1.0.1 on it. Now that outline is nowhere to be seen.

Oh. I wondered if it was just software that was causing all of our grief.

They did kind of just throw a Virgin Mobile ROM on there. I don't even think they really did a lot of testing.
That's why Sprint didn't get ICS for their 3D. It's too buggy.

We were meant to basically being the "Testers".

=\

As soon as they fix all the issues I'd bet the 3D on Sprint will get ICS.

:D

The EVO V phone is great!

The one off EVO V problems are linked to one of the following root causes:

1.

So VM ICS Stock ROM software is not compatible with hardware and not fully tested on rushed release to VM USA

Not enough testing of VM USA Stock ROM

2.

Sprint phone hardware is aged (stock lying around in warehouse with no demand from Sprint customers)

3.

Transporatioan of Sprint phone inventory from stores to labs for VM USA Stock ROM flasjing. Then again transport to RadioShack, BestBuy or to VM USA customers for VM USA Web orders

Moving and handling could cause some hardware issues

4.

Sprint/ClearWire Wi-Max network is not fully tuned for VM USA

5.

Activation issues due to totally new 4G activation process on VM USA servers and not enough training to their customer service staff

Things such as not changing from 25 USD plan to 35 USD plan prior to activation, not clearing voice mails on old phone prioe to EVO V activation and keeping both old and EVO V phones on durign activation also contributed to various issues.

I hope this all settles down soon.

:D

This is absurd, using this logic while driving around or even walking I should expect to see hardware issues because the phone is in motion? The damn things are shipped here on a boat from China. Hardware certainly doesn't age in a year, which is how long ago the first Evo 3D's came into the country. Silicon ages from excessive heat, not by sitting on a store shelf or warehouse. And Sprint has already informed owners to expect ICS by the 3rd quarter. As to the other issues that you brought up, I definitely agree. But without Virgin having had to provision 4G before they really had no way of knowing about some of the activation issues that people have experienced.

Hmm, I've noticed that outline on my screen too, tho it seems to only happen if I have the camera switch on 3D while not viewing any 3D pics or vids. Goes away if I switch back to 2D and shut the screen off then back on.

Not sure if it's hardware or software related, but seeing as how I can reliably avoid and/or make it go away, I'm not worried about it.
