Whats up guys.. short introduction.

Im not a Noob to Android i run my own blog site dedicated to android hacks/supports/tutorials however it is directed for the DroidX..

As everyone knows the DroidX is locked and so kernels are a no no..

I recently acquired a Droid Inc, and well its time to not only expand my websites "How To's" but also my knowledge on another device, as this will be my first HTC android device.

My questions.

Rooting - Unrevoked yada yada got that :)

ROMs - I am very interested in a Gingerbread build as is every other DX user haha What Roms are the most stable and GB based?

MIUI - i have heard people love this ROM and some Hate how it is IOS related.. Thoughts opinions?

Finally.. Why the hell can i not find a thread with all the Inc ROMs listed? It seems its very unorganized and crap is tossed everywere!

Thanks for everyone help i appreciate it.

Welcome.

Try CM7's latest nightly. Or RC2 if you'd like.

MIUI is really cool. I have not run it in quite a while, but it's worth checking it out. It's UI is still heavily Android it's just hiding behind an Apple facade.

You can check them all out right here ;)

I agree with jbdan.

I use MIUI currently and the newest build is based on gingerbread.
Inc roms can be found here:

on a side note about the droid x, the encryption keys were just released(hacked) so seems like roms, kernels, etc should be coming soon.

i was not found of MIUI at all. i had tio use launcherpro so my phone dint look like an iphone with all the apps out in the open, not in a drawer  i left for work running it and by the end of the day couldnt wait to get home and change it.

the look was kind of neat at first, but by the end of the day was on my nerves,i hated the messaging app,and had issues getting email. plus a random reboot.

some love it,but its definately not for everyone ;)

The encryption key leak was all a big.hoax made up by a person who I will not mention for their sake. But it was bogus, and they confirmed it was.

Thanks for everyones feedback!

Noobish Question.. Like i said this is my first android HTC device, even though it is android based. It differs from motorola phones.

On the Motorola's there are "SBF"s in order to re-flash the stock firmware/rom onto the phone.. What is there in HTC lingo? basically i am getting a used Inc, and want to "SBF" it in moto lingo.. and format the SD Card.

Thanks guys.

you will need to run an appropriate "PB31IMG" file thru hboot.

HTC phones are much better in this aspect... no sbf files or rsd lite :D you can change radios, bootloaders, recovery, boot animations, even go back to stock software by placing the appropriate file onthe root of a FAT32 formated card, renaming it PB31IMG,then booting into hboot py powering on while holding vol down

HTC phones are MUCH easier to mess with than Motorolas. I found this out when my girlfriend got a Moto Droid 1 lol. MUCH easier to root, reset, everything on the Incredible.

Im running Cyanogen Mod 7 RC2 right now on my phone and I havent had any bugs at all. Gingerbread is good stuff :D

Thank you all :) Next question.

What android version etc does a up to date incredible run?

for the DroidX its
android version 2.2.1
system version: 2.3.340

So you HAVE to use the "SBF" for that exact system.

Were the Inc is not locked i assume u can use any file to relfash? or is there just one file that takes you back to android 2.2 and then you can snag a OTA if there is one? or is the Inc rocking just a solid android 2.2

Make any sense what so ever?

Also do you need to be rooted first in order to do the downgrade re-flash

The link I posted above is the current "stock" 2.2 setup for the Droid Incredible. It already includes the only OTA since stock 2.2 came out which was in November, 2010 for this phone. It's a single file that will return the phone to stock. You do not have to be rooted to perform this action. Follow the steps on the link and you're gold. You also don't have to use the PB31IMG file for the same thing you're already on. It could be used to jump upward from 2.1 to 2.2 etc. It is the same thing as an RUU but uses a slightly different route to get there.
