Great move by Motorola. That is awesome, even though Verizon customers w/ the Bionic will get first stab at owning it. Then again, what's to prevent non-Verizon customers for purchasing this for their MoPho or Atrix 2? It only mentions those 3 phones, but I'm wondering if this would also work for the Electrify, since it's in essence the MoPho w/o 4G.
any idea on how much this costs ?? the atrix 2 lapdock runs for how much ??

I'm guessing $200.
I'm hoping the for that price as well, i cant wait!!! YEAH!!!!
I'd love it to be $200. That would seem underpriced to me. Regardless, that thing might prevent me from upgrading again next year! I already love the car dock and HD dock they made for the moPho. The lapdock would just put it over the top.

so, Motorola finally release the Lapdock 100 which is supposed to be the generic lapdock for the atrix 1/2, bionice, and photon right? why in the hell is it being released in stages starting with ATT? if its a generic item, why limit where you are selling?
i got the photon and if it's "1 lapdock fits all", well then guess i will be buying my lapdock from ATT :-\
someone is getting screwed by marketing it sounds like.
The reason for that is because the lapdock 100 is not really interchangeable between the Photon, Atrix, Bionic. Each carrier will have its own version of the lapdock.so, Motorola finally release the Lapdock 100 which is supposed to be the generic lapdock for the atrix 1/2, bionice, and photon right? why in the hell is it being released in stages starting with ATT? if its a generic item, why limit where you are selling?

The price did get reduced down to $249.99 for the Sprint version and will come out on Oct 21.
As for my hope that the rear cable can be interchanged with another cable (to connect whatever phone you want, thus allowing you to get the At&t one since thats coming out first), I'm sorry to say is not to be. The cable looks hard wired to the dock. This would explain why each carrier gets to sell its own at different dates etc etc.
For a really nice writeup/hands on of the Sprint Lapdock 100 see the gottabemobile article as well as the video showing the rear connection point.

TS out
Just had a bad thought...Sprint isn't going to add a tethering fee onto your account so that you can use this device, are they? Will they be able to tell that you are using this, or will it be the same as using the phone to surf the web. I am hopeful that since it is really just a keyboard and screen extension for the phone that they will not charge extra for it, but i am concerned.
did you ever find out if the premier discount on accessories still exists?

Technically and logically that is correct, but I guess those idiots over in AT&T didn't figure that out and decided to charge folks for a tethering plan.
I don't think Sprint is that stupid especially since they keep providing the unlimites speach, but if they do then I'll just get one off of ebay and proceed as normal.
Besides if we have an unlimited plan on the phone, how can they possibly say we are tethered to the lapdock?
Speaking of lapdocks, I went to a corp store today and as usual no one knows anything about the Lapdock or that it is even dropping this Friday.![]()
I also went to a AT&T store to see if I can look at the Lapdock (old and new) and the two stores I hit did not have one on display, but they sure had a lot of iphonys and zombies reaching for one.
