We's gettin' a Lapdock! Date & Price

I posted this on SprintUsers forum so I thought I would share with people here:

Got my lapdock via next day delivery. I have been playing with this for the past 4 hours.

I am a web developer and let me tell you, for my need this device is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No more typing codes or replying to long emails on my phone. Best thing about it is, LogMeIn works flawlessly so I can remote desktop to my machine to do real work anytime.

Only known issue(s) so far:
  • Netflix on browser doesn't work. Can't install silverlight.
  • The orientation of Netflix app on phone is reversed.

Other than that, these apps/hardwares work without any problems:
  • Hulu
  • Youtube HD
  • Watching HD mp4
  • Taking calls
  • Wifi
  • Thumb Drives
  • USB Mouse

I can post pics if you guys are interested. Also, please ask any questions and I will try to answer promptly.

Lastly, many commented on the design of this device and based on pictures on the web I had my doubts but let me assure, it looks much better than advertised. I will share more pics to prove.

Bad News - web access via dishonline doesn't work, you get an incompatibility warning message.

Good News - launch free dish app on Mobile View, view in Full Screen and you're in business!!!!! (REQUIRES SLING DEVICE)

More Good News... no tethering required on Sprint.

Loving this purchase even more...

Awesome.

Now I am left to wonder about Netflix. Would that be fixable by Netflix themselves, or Sprint or Motorola? hmmmm

Also that Logmein is something I hope to do as well. That would take care of me looking at my spreadsheets that are heavy in the macro department and which i can't move to Google Docs.

I just ordered the Lapdock and spare battery/tray (2 items, to get the Premier discount). I was able to have a local store order it via telephone, confirm the discount, bill to my account (they still do this for accessories, just not for phones) and it should be in Monday or Tuesday for pickup. I'm stoked--I'll let you guys know how it goes.

How much was the total for those, after the discount? I never thought about that until you just mentioned it. The lapdock isn't necessarily a "must have" for me, but the extra hf5x battery and motorola charger would be VERY useful right away.

Here's an interesting FYI... My brother is with at&t and has a good contact who gets him 25% off accessories. He inquired about the Atrix 2 and Lapdock and was told that not only is it a $20/month add-on to use the Lapdock, but you lose your grandfathered unlimited data plan (goes to 4 GB/month). Also, at&t is throttling at the 2 GB mark...

LONG LIVE SPRINT.

How about the Motorola Lapdock 500??

Is it available? is it a good deal?

I've read it has an integrated webcam, VGA output, an SD card reader and an Ethernet connection.

Pretty cool!!

I just posted a question about the LAPDOCK 500 in the SPRINTUSERS FORUM.
Anyone know if this is going to be compatible w/the PHOTON?

Went to the sprint store on saturday and ordered the lapdock and picked up the vehicle kit which they had in stock. Needed two items to get premier discount. Total for both items after discount was 232.49....say they are shipping the lapdock to my house at no charge. had to pay tax of course, which is not included in the 232.49. 187.50 for the lapdock, and 45 bucks for the vehicle navigation dock.

Im loving both the droid lapdock and the lapdock 100 here on vacation in Hawaii. The 100 has two finger scrolling and hardly crashes (in other words i dont get memory messages) but then again thr droid lapdock isnt really made for the photon and is an older model compared to the 100. As for the 500 i do believe it will be compatible with the photon and thats the one i will get and use more thanplastic these two finger have now. I posted pics in google plus and have tweeted about them.

I'm also getting low memory messages because I have more than 2 firefox tabs open at a time. If I keep it at two or one its okay. This is happening on both lapdocks.

btw tbhausen, I'm in Hawaiian time at the moment so that is why my time line looks weird. I tried responding to you in the Moto forums and couldn't for some reason.

Hey tb did you ever get your lapdock finally.

TS out

Not yet... the process of having it sent to a Sprint store (apparently a requirement to get the Premier discount) seems slower than just ordering through telesales. Every time I order through telesales, I get stuff overnight (I'm in Indy--the orders come UPS ground from Louisville). I ordered the Lapdock early last Friday... hopefully it arrives today.

my lapdock just came in the mail. plugged it in to charge, and am using it to post this message. Smaller and lighter then I expected..which is a good thing....screen resolution is good, but not great. characters are on the small side even when full screen. It does charge your phone even when the lapdock is not plugged in, using the lapdock battery. fun to have the phone and computer integrated....keyboard is a little small for my fat fingers, but has a decent feel. I will probably pick up the 500 when it comes out as well...but for traveling this is a nice little unit.

I just got mine, too, and I'm still getting used to its quirks (I've never used Firefox, and I still prefer using the stock Android browser) but this product is so full of WIN that it's ridiculous. More later...

PS: DISH Remote Access and SlingPlayer Mobile were made for this thing--they just didn't know it until now :)
