Help What 64 GB microSD for Note 3?

I currently have a 16gb card that I had lying around in my N3, but want to upgrade it soon.

Question: When I get a new higher capacity card, can I simply copy the entire contents of card A to card B using windows, and then put card B into the N3?

I would highly suggest putting the new card in the phone first, format the card in the phone, connect phone to cpu, then transfer all sd content from 16 to that card, while in the phone. This will help prevent any issues you might have transfering data prior to mounting in the phone.

For those interested, I ran across this deal on Ebay for the Samsung Pro 64 gb micro sd card for only $44.99 and free shipping.

I've tried twice to get 40GB of music on this card but every time I restart my phone most of the music simply disappears. Afer downloading ES File Explorer shows everything there and Storage setting ssy I have 20GB left. After the restart Storage shows 55GB of storage avaliable and the file explorer shows all the folders there but the vast majority are empty. Any advice?

Is the storage showing the amount of space left on your internal 32 GB memory or on your extra card? Do you have an adapter that will read the card in your pc? If so, how much space does it show in there?

Sounds like fake storage issue. delete the files and check the memory, if it still shows lots of memory used, even without files stored, it's fake. Sounds very similar to the experience I had the only time i purchased a card from eBay.

I remember reading something about this from fake memory cards on ebay. Scammers load the card with a fake memory readings, which allows the device to read the correct size, but obviously not have that much available. One way to check this is to reformat it on your computer(format on computer to rule out device issues). Once it's done, move all your music back onto the card. Now, wait until you run into the missing music/files, and log what is missing.
Now, what you have to do is repeat everything again for the second time. Make sure to transfer the music back onto the card in the same order as you did the first time. Check again to see what is missing, and compare the differences/similarities. If the same stuff is missing again, you got scammed. Happens all the time, unfortunately, but people don't realize it until they have large amounts of data on their card, as not a lot of people actually use the large amounts of space they buy.

I went ahead and ordered this setup Samsung 64GB MicroSD XC Pro Class 10 UHS-1 Read Speed 70mb/s Write Speed 20mb/s MB-MGCGB Ultra Fast Speed Memory Card with SoCal Trade, Inc. Memory Card Reader sold by Samsung on Amazon. I'm going to be able to test the Ebay card if the delivery happens on October 29 as promised. I too read those posts about counterfit cards on Ebay Beware of fake 32gb micro sd card on ebay!!!!!! - The eBay Community but silly me I waited until I may have recieved one to do the research. :banghead:

Success! The card from Samsung through Amazon arrived today. I popped it into my Note 3 and it showed 58.53GB without formatting. I copied over my 573 album collection in about an hour and a half unlike the seven plus hours it took with the eBay card. Restarted the phone and everything was still there. I've still got 17.15GB left. I'll be returning the eBay card tomorrow. I'll post some screen shots and pics of the Amazon packaging later tonight.

Yup. What happened to you is exactly why I never buy from ebay. I learned the hard way, just like you, but I also only paid $10 out of pocket...so at the time, it was worth the risk. Ever since then, I never buy memory from ebay. It's the one thing I'm not willing to compromise on.

Glad the new card worked!

I am glad you got it fixed with the new card. I never got around to ordering one from Ebay and after seeing your problems I ordered one from Amazon and used my rebate dollars from my Discover Card and got one there. Just got it and put it in and have not had time to test it out yet. Hopefully, it works.

I see on ebay these USB flash drives 256 GB for $24.99 and $29.99...guess those are part of those fake things also.

I have tried all 3 of these:
Amazon.com: SanDisk Extreme 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter (SDSDQX-064G-U46A): Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card 30MB/s with Adapter SDSDQUA-064G-U46A: Electronics

Amazon.com: Samsung Electronics 64GB Pro microSDXC Extreme Speed (UHS-1) Class 10 Memory Card (MB-MGCGB/AM): Computers & Accessories

and the First link, Sandisk Extreme is by far the fastest for both reading and writing. It's more expensive than the other 2 but noticeably faster. I have always used Sandisk cards and never had any issues with them. I know there are some sites that sell generic cards that look like and actually say sandisk on them so maybe that is where the issue lies.

I ordered this one, the SanDisk Ultra 64 GB, and got it in and tested it and works perfects. But I see this one is cheaper than when I purchased mine last week. I paid $49 for mine, minus my reward dollars from my Discover Card (had to order from Amazon, only place Discover Card would let me use my reward dollars that I actually needed something from). This is link is $41.99...wow...not bad for a 64 GB branded card. :D

What is the problem with it? If it is a branded sealed package? Honestly, I don't know...please explain for the rest of us.
In my case if you look closely at the eBay packaging and compare it to the Amazon packaging you wont see reflective silver over the large 64GB and in the word Pro in the eBay photo. Everything else matches. Packaging can be essily copied but manufacturers hsve wsys to make it harder.

Whatever you do, don't buy this

Purchased a SanDisk a year ago and my Samsung Note II began crashing recently. Could not figure it out. Thought it was a rogue app. Turned out the card was unmounting itself.

My friends, who bought the same card with my recommendation, also had unmounting problems.

Then, when I finally read more Amazon reviews, I saw a pattern.

There is actually debate going on as to whether the Samsung motherboard in these phones supports Class 10 microSD cards.

I've been using this card for about a year, first on a Note 2 and now Note 3, no problems on either. It's been almost full a couple of times, but no problems.

I just realised I need to order a 64 Gb microSD card for my new phone. So advice please on what class of card? I'm guessing I don't need to go very high speed - as I do for my cameras.

High speed is useful if you use the phone to record video (ie 4k 60fps), if you don't probably not. On a previous phone and lesser card I would sometimes get missing frames with video when recording to the sd.
