I seem to have loads of apps running and its killing the battery!

I have jorte and handcent, both running constantly. Do I need them running, if not how do i turn them off?

you dont need to stop the apps, let android do its thing, app killers cause more problems than they solve.

the apps you mention are more than likely in a dormant state and not draining battery or using the processor much.

Download spare parts. Go into battery history, and select 'Partial wake usage' from the top drop down box. See if anything has a huge bar. Report back. ;)

Right, I finally managed to download the app you recommended (don't know whats wrong with Market, took ages to download it!)

This is what has come up (highest first)

Android System (approx 40%)

The rest have quite small proportions...

Media
Facebook
Google
Calendar
Dialer
Market

try a shutdown with a battery removal.... sorted high "android system" usage when i first got mine

I upgraded Facebook a to 1.3 the day before yesterday and yesterday my battery dies REALLY quickly. When I looked at the Battery usage it was High (~40%) for Android System. When I looked at the Partial Wake it was almost ALL Facebook - despite the fact that I wasn't using the app and had deleted the Widget. Force stop got rid of it (and I've changed my SIM card since which meant I had to take the battery out) and, so far, so good.

If you've done the upgrade too Michelle, that might be your problem too.

Phenomenological - Yeah thats Parcial wake usuage.

I've just tried it again, and the bars have dropped now. Android system is still the higest, with Facebook second, media third...

Griff_LI - Yeah I upgraded Facebook as well, only yesterday!

I have a Battery Widet which tells me what Battery I have left, and % of use.

Cell Standby 34%
Phone Idle 30%
Android System 27%
Display 7%
Market 2%

I uninstalled the latest facebook update today and returned to the factory app because it was using battery even when 'dormant'.

How do I unistall the update?

I might do this in the hope it stops killing the battery!! I changed the settings on it so it only updates once a day!

EDIT - Found it!!!
