What are the cons about this phone?

Cons? hmmmm

overall, it's a kick-ass phone. i loved, LOVE my DInc still and use it as a fitness partner/mp3 player/browser/etc. when i don't have my phone on me or whatever the case.

specifically, the volume and pwr buttons are too flush with phone. Solved with AMZER (?) gel skin case for $10 on amazon.

no trackball. was a handy feature on the DInc, if obsolete. basically, only used it when fixing texts, posts, etc.

battery too small. i think the RAZR maxx is a brilliant idea. all androids should have extended batteries. they'll be the norm in 6 months. i've yet to buy the Vigor extended battery cuz i'm cheap. i'm also fortunate to have wifi at work and hardly chews up battery. also, i'm good about turning off wifi/mobile data when in the appropriate areas using stock Sense widgets. it's tedious if you think about it, but it's so commonplace to do it now, i don't think about it. good habits save your battery.

slow in getting ICS. it's a newer phone and should have had it by now. i'm kinda peeved that the RAZR is getting it already, cuz it's a subpar phone. though it will be nice to get "later this year" as i'll probably be over the stock look.

i hope this doesn't deter any buyers. it's camera kicks ass over RAZR and it's screen is epic. super AMOLED plus might be better, but the SLCD is no slouch.

pros:

HTC
720p
4.3"
beats
4G
dual-core 1.5??? what??? crazy!!!
super smooth
super fast
lots of storage

it's definitely the 3rd iteration of the DInc and truly kicks ass.

my 2 cents

really annoying thing where the lock screen looses your trace and you have to turn the screen off and on...also happens with swype from time to time
cant native tether (w/o paying like the inc)
no ICS
camera is a little funny indoors
glass doesnt seem as 'scratch proof' like it was with the inc

personally i like the battery like life. i turned off mobile data always on (the only thing i get through that is email, it can wait till i turn my phone back on) and bought an extended battery. i last about about a day and a half before it needs a charge.

Personally, I love the display because it's the most modern version of the OG Droid screen, better, larger, improved, and awesome. While this is a subjective statement and even then it depends on the phone, I feel that Amoled (and any variation of that technology) often exaggurates the colors, making them so vibrant that it looks fake. As long as you're not holding two phones (such as Razr and Rezound) side by side, it's no problem to adjust to it. It seems these days that everything is either QHD Pentile like the Droid 4, or Amoled like the Gnex. Where are more screens like this one on the Rezound?

I'm at 13 hours now on my first day. I can't complain about the battery life at this point and 4G rocks my world. I wanted to not like this phone, but it's starting to win me over. We'll see how it goes after a week though.

In the final analysis battery life is a function of signal strength,WiFi use, screen time and syncing frequency. If all things go right for you you'll get good battery life. But for most people optimal conditions are not meet and there is only so much juice in a 1625 battery.

I picked the phone up today and it was on 1x speed and not 4G. Ticked me off. I rebooted and it fixed it, but it better be a one time problem.

I just spent an hour trying to fix it. In the process the phone factory reset itself. I certainly did not tell it to do that. I just rebooted and it started flashing itself to defaults. THAT really pisses me off. The network issues I can live with. Having to configure everything from scratch AGAIN??

We haven't had an outage in weeks (or at least I haven't) and we get one today. After you've owned the phone for awhile you'll get to know the tell tale signs and just live with it until Verizon gets it fixed. But when the phone drops to 1X or zilch check the Android blogs and more visited forums and that will save you a bunch of wasted time.

Verizon's 4G LTE network suffers nationwide outage

We have received a number of reports this morning from Verizon Wireless customers complaining that the carrier’s 4G LTE network was down in various parts of the country. The carrier’s support forums have also been flooded with complaints from irate users who claim the service is down across the country, and Verizon customers service representatives have reportedly confirmed the outage to a number of subscribers. Verizon customers have suffered from data problems before — the carrier recently had three massive outages in a single month.

3G was down for me as well as 4G. Both are up again, but I'm peeved at the phone at the moment.

Restoring itself to default aside, the 3G/4G issue is more a fault with Verizon and their "Most reliable network" than it is with the phone. My Thunderbolt had the same problems with the signal, but worse battery life, constant reboots, a screen that would short out on occasion, and 4G signal sensitivity was horrible. My Rezound is night and day a better all around performer. Don't let the network issue get you down, oh and an FYI, it's pretty typical for us 4G adopters to have 4G/3G issues where 3G only phones can run flawless.

It's worth having an average of 15-25 mbps download speeds 99% of the places I go and deal with a few outages now and again, than have a clunky, slow, old Droid that can't even run the bare bones minimum I need.

People complain too much about it sometimes. I understand if it's essential to your job or business it would be really terrible, and I wouldn't ever say to just suck it up and get over it, that's certainly not the case. On one hand, there is a certain group of people who want to root, Rom, tweak, and completely control every aspect of their entire mobile experience. On the other hand, the same people are willing to sign a contract, pay the price for Verizon's service, and rely completely on it....

Yup 4g performs wonderful for me. In places where that other phone wouldn't. That combined with the extended battery gives me tremendous performance and freedom. I keep my phone connected to 4g whenever I'm away from home, download fast, fast connections to data and I don't have to think about battery use. 2750 easily goes the entire day for me.

IF I keep the phone, I'll end up rooting it. If I constantly have to deal with outages that suck my battery life I am not going to be happy. The bloom is kind of off the rose at this point, but I promised myself I'd give it a week and it's only been 2.5 days so far.

Go look at the video demo inside the "Videos" folder, I didn't really care for the song, but watching the display and just marveling at the video, that helped reinforce my appreciation for the phone.

/sdcard2/Video is the location.

Why? The outages affect all 4g phones. I'm not following your logic.

If 4G service is not reliable but 3G is, why not stick with 3G? Also, the dang thing reset itself in the middle of the data outage and I'm unsure if that was related.

You should switch out your phone for something in 3g. You certainly seem unhappy with the Rezound and 4g.

I didn't care for either song, but you're right about the display. It looks amazing.

Can you root your phone and modify it in a way that fools the network to let it receive 3G when there is a 4G outage so that you are able to ride through it no problem like 3G phones do?

The phone will switch to 3G, but it keeps looking for a 4G signal which drains the battery. There are widgets that will turn off 4G, but then you're stuck with just 3G which defeats the purpose of a 4G phone. Also, you have to check periodically to confirm that 4G is still down or up.
