What are you currently reading?

Done Assassin's Quest :D Really enjoyed the story. The plot kept me on my feet and was not predictable at all :) I'm going to take a break from reading :( I get to wrapped up in a book and don't make time for much anything else XD

Amen Roze! I'm already hooked on next series, Tawny Man

lol, same here are you done? I'm on the 2nd book, Golden Fool. Sometimes I want to simply hit Fitz for being so stupid

I'm on same one... Not quite half way through....

TOTALLY agree though! Fitz is KILLING me!! And I simply CANNOT wait to see how even this book ends......

Amazing series!

I agree. This is the first series in AGES that I can't predict where it's going. Everything is simply an enjoyable surprise to read.

Chaos, what's the series after this one? :)

I know!!

And I think he said this is it on Fitz' story, but that there is a series that runs concurrent to Farseer/Tawny (different characters, same world). At least I *think* thats how he explained it. Will have to shot over to RH site again and look it up.

I haven't been reading lately, thats actually a bad thing.

Last series of books I read was the Camulod chronicles by Jack Whyte. Really good twist on the King Arthurian legend. Made it like an historical fiction story without all the magic and such. Used real roman history and events and intertwined the story into it. Really good books.

Also I will always recommend the Asimov Robots / Galactic Empire / Foundation series novels. Classic for the sake of being classic! ;)

Similar to the latest movie?

Haha been away for a while. I'd check out the mistborn series first before anything else. If you read that, then check out codex of alera series by Jim Butcher. Great great series!

I am re-reading The Hobbit (for about the 15th time). I want it to be fairly fresh in my head for when the movie is released. :D

Just finished the Tawny Man series. Robbin Hobb's books are the first where I can't predict what will happen next. There were so many new surprises that I was simply on the edge of my bed while I was reading.

I'm now reading the Liveship Traders which happens during the Tawny Man series :)

I'll have to read that next also. Not quite done yet with tawny
Fitz just brought fool back to life

Can't believe how good these 2 series have been.

To all: Farseer trilogy and Tawny Man trilogy are Nick/Roze approved :D

First Shift - Legacy (Wool 6) Hugh Howey

I highly recommend this series. Really, really good.

I just finished the first 5 in the Wool series. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Didn't realize there was a #6 out, but will definitely check it out.

I'm currently reading "The Mongoliad" by Greg Bear, Neal Stephenson, et al, but just getting started so can't yet recommend it.

Possibly big news for Wool fans -

20th Century Fox has bought the screen rights to Wool. The project is being produced and/or directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, etc.), and written by Steven Zaillian, (sreenplays for Schindler's list, Blackhawk Down and Moneyball among others.) Wow! Of course deals like this are made all the time without anything ever making it to the theaters, but if this works out, it should be awesome!

Here's Hugh on the deal:

What's the premise for wool? (at usvi with 1x connection or would look it up)

The basic gist of the story is (trying not to spoil anything here...) - Man has made the world uninhabitable and the handful left has been forced to live in an underground silo. All talk of going outside is forbidden and punishable by being sent to Cleaning - going outside to clean the camera lenses (with a Wool pad) that let the people of the silo view what's left of the world - and certain death.

The first "book" was a short story, so it's hard to go into much detail without giving a lot away. If you're on the fence, by Wool 1 for only $0.99 and see what you think. I'll bet your hooked.

HTH.

Really enjoying the Liveship Traders series. I found it a bit slow at first but the story picks up. Each scene is in one of the main characters' perspective. When the perspective change, you're not told who is being narrated about until the second page. I got a bit confused with this.

Interesting....

I took a RH break and decided to reread Mistborn then jump into 'Alloy of Law'

Keep me posted about Liveship though

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY, by E. L. James. (Knopf Doubleday Publishing.)
An inexperienced college student falls in love with a tortured man who has particular sexual tastes; the first book in a trilogy.

Just about to start Redshirts by John Scalzi.

From Amazon -
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. It’s a prestige posting, and Andrew is thrilled all the more to be assigned to the ship’s Xenobiology laboratory.

Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the fact that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces, (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations, and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Not surprisingly, a great deal of energy below decks is expendedon avoiding, at all costs, being assigned to an Away Mission. Then Andrew stumbles on information that completely transforms his and his colleagues’ understanding of what the starship Intrepid really is…and offers them a crazy, high-risk chance to save their own lives.
