What are you currently reading?

Long time no post, been busy, but seeing as this is my favorite thread here:

I read the Drenai series based on suggestions here.

I read the Sword of Truth series based on suggestions here.

Read a bunch of other books too, lol...

If anyone likes fiction I highly recommend Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Series. He's been averaging a book a year. Highly entertaining reads, laugh out loud funny, and the fact that the main character plays pranks on Celtic, Native American, Roman, and Norse gods, has arrows blessed by the Virgin Mary and in one instance sits down to eat Fish and Chips and does shots/drinks beer with Jesus, yeah, you really cant go wrong. Doesnt hurt the author is native to AZ and some of the places in the books are area's that I have frequented.

Also for scifi action junkies, Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry. Starts with Patient Zero, then The Dragon Factory, then King of Plagues, and just released last week was Assasin's Code.

Maberry also has a trilogy that is set in the horror genre, it was a great read as well, the Pine Deep series.

If you want a real series to read, go pick up gotek and felix, by William King. Don't let the warhammer 40k throw you off. It's a bunch of short stories (that do build somewhat off of each other) of this dwarf who tries to commit suicide by fighting the biggest and baddest demons he can find while his friend a poet must accompany him and write down all of his tales. Really well written, full of action and all around a great series.

I will keep that in mind for my future reading. Like Nick, I think your reading style in Fantasy is similar to mine :)

The Iron Druid Series is awesome. I just finished it a few weeks ago.

Currently I'm reading Sacre Bleu! by Christopher Moore.

Like I said, the beginning is quite slow but really picks up and then you really can't put down the books. The series goes Farseer Trilogy and then the Tawny Man trilogy. Inbetween there is the liveship traders that takes place in the same time frame as the first trilogy, but all different characters. Some references are made in the Tawny man, but none significant. After that is the Rain Wilds which is a super prequel or something in that manner, haven't picked that up yet, but most people stick to the regular six books and are quite happy. Glad you both enjoy it so far though!

All of those are in the 'Farseer' world? Damn~! Seems i have more to read than i thought. So all of Robin Hobb's books are in this world then?

That sounds intriguing

Joe Ledger series huh? Might have to see if I can hunt that one down

I'm on Assassins Quest (book three) and am toally CRACKED OUT!! I cannot literally think of anything else... matter of fact....

<--- logs off

I told you the Assassin's Quest was like the best series I've ever read ever haha. A lot of people said that the Balgariad (spelling) by David Edding is possibly one of the best fantasy books, ever, ever ever written. I'll be picking that up after I finish the way of the kings by brandon sanderson, which I cannot put down right now...

I first read the Belgariad when I was in 7th grade, about 20 years ago.... its a 5 book series followed by another 5 book series The Mallorean... truly epic...

The Tamuli anf The Elenium are also awesome, along with The Redemption of Athalaus

I enjoyed Belgariad and read the series countless of times. I don't think any series can ever top LOTR for best fantasy. After reading the Balgariad, I would suggest you read Balgarath the Sorcerer. It deals with Balgarath's life and is a masterpiece :) That's my favourite of all of Eddings' work.

Can't agree with that more. Belgariad, Mallorean, then Belgarath, then Polgara

Honestly, I could barley read the LOTR books. I mean i finished the first and gave up half way through the second. I felt there was WAY too much dialog, not enough going on and a lot of stuff that wasn't needed though.

Nearly finished the Girl who Played with Fire??? The second book in the Millennium series.

Not sure what's next on my list. Too many books, too little time.

Okay, I am rereading all these right now, first read them about 15 years ago. Currently on "The Ruby Knight". (I blew threw the Belgariad last week on my kindle, lol I had a lot of free time at work).

I have also read the assassin books by Hobb (I think as they were being published) Didn't know there were other books in that same setting, I will have to check those out soon.

I am also reading "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman. It's not long, but has an intimate association with recent tragedies so it is hard for me to read much of it without putting it down and reading something else for a while.

Yea I just started The Tawny Man series which picks up where assassin series leaves off. Kudos to chaos for recommending this awesome series.

And I re read sparhawk series recently. Forgot how much I loved it. David Eddings in general really. Though his last series (wrote while suffering from dementia) kinda blew....

The tawny man series is just amazing...Just as good as the first books. I'm still on the way of the king by brandon sanderson...cannot..put...it...down.
