What are you listening to?

( Entire album)
Chutes Too Narrow - The Shins.
Hardly a bad track on it; Funny, I never warmed up to any of their others.

(I think maybe) the last music I deliberately sought out and bought. That was released what, one, two years ago?

Just revisiting my old Alan Parsons Project albums. Still good listening. I love his music because it's so interesting - fusing classical instruments with good rock songs. Their instrumentals are so good.
Wish I'd seen them in concert. Here's a taster:

Science Friday / Ira Flatow

"A new golden record"

Later edit: Closing segment on "pop-up books; fun and engineering for kids and adults alike." Including a description of "pop-up princess Leia".

The "flop.......... flop........... flop" of the Sunday NY Times landing in driveways up and down the street, in the 4:00 AM darkness.

Long live print.

"On Point" with Tom Ashbrook
His guest is Nate Jackson, discussing "fantasy football"; A topic I never would have paid a moment of attention to, thought it was a silly joke.
Hit me with your best shot, Nate.
I'll give the guy an hour to change my mind, he seems rather sharp and articulate

"When You Were Mine" - Cyndi Lauper

One of several favorite "bum out songs" by C L, not sure in this case if it's a Cyndi thing, or a Prince thing; Unsophisticated, gut wrenching lyrics and melodies, the simple kind of stuff I liked him for.

Brought to mind because it was covered last night by an Irish woman previously unknown to me, on "A Prairie Home Companion" 2.0.
Chris has some big shoes to fill, but seems up to the challenge.:)

The thunder; Lightning storms are relatively uncommon here, even in normal years.

Along with the rain on the rooftop.......Even more uncommon here in the past five years or so. More please, we desperately need it.

And "Science Friday" w/ Ira Flatow.
