What changes do YOU see with Froyo 2.2?

Try what you saw in the video and let us know if yours is different or if you get different results. Also check to see if you have a edit button when in a event like seen in the video.

I have the .3 release of Froyo and my calendar edit function has problems. As mentioned above, I only have to open the edit function to have it mess up the description. Also as mentioned above, I do not have an edit option when viewing the event but I have four choices when I hit menu - Add reminder, Delete event, Share vCalendar and Agenda. I have to long press on the event in Agenda view or in month view, tap on the day and and then long press on the event. I typically edit events on the Google calendar or in Outlook. HTC and Google have a lot of work to do on the Calendar system.

And just imagine if I actually had sync off. If you're having battery issues you probably have an app running that's keeping the phone awake. I had battery issues too until I figured out an app was running and deleted it. Been pure bliss ever since.

Was wondering if you used any app or anything "special" to figure out an app was running?? Did you use a task killer to just SEE a service or app running?? Did you check services?? Or did you did something else??

Just wondering WHERE to look for that "app that was running" to delete it as you did if necessary...

Thanks!!

I was using Jorte when I had 2.1 and it messed up my phone and slowed it down and I forgot exactally but I ended up deleting it. One of the widgets would reboot my phone I think. But I really loved it cause of the 30 day calendar being able to see the whole description. I may try it again now that I have 2.2.

Are you talking about at 1:03 in the video

That being said, I use the calendar app JORTE (free in Market) and tried to replicate the above issues. JORTE does NOT SCREW UP THE DESCRIPTION during the edit process. JORTE edits, changes and syncs FINE. Plus the JORTE calendar looks much much better...among other things it shows descriptions WITHIN the 30-day full calendar view instead of just a little green dot.

Yes...the 30 day calendar WITH the description was KEY for me...

I'll have to give jorte a shot but really want my edit button back. I hope HTC fixes these issues with the calendar. Why change something that worked fine before. Come on htc

Happens ALL THE TIME...not just with HTC but with whatever phone "upgrade" you get. I can remember each and every phone I have had since my first cell phone in 1995. You "upgrade" the phone and ALWAYS you find that a function that was working great for years is screwed up or deleted or missing or plain screwed it. You would think that companies would have people who's ONLY job was to listen to people's comments about what they want in forums like this and/or (MORE IMPORTANTLY) test out the stuff to make sure what they had before STILL WORKS!!

I tried exactly as stated in the video and he is right. However, you can recreate the description and save it again so it does not stop you from editing the information just that if you don't have the original information in the description field, you are toast. So it is a bug that definitely needs to be corrected.

And to answer your question, I do have an edit event button on the right hand top corner if you hit menu while in the event details.

Thats really weird that some people have the edit button in the menu and some don't. I really wish I did.

I tried Jorte but even though it is a very good calendar, it still rely's on the stock htc calendar. When events come up it still shows the same reminder that I had problems with to begin with. I still have to go back into jorte and edit the event the long way to reschedule a reminder or event.

I think htc has people testing the software but sometimes they have people that don't really rely on the calendar and maybe that's why the option was left out. I guess in their eyes, if it works without a bug then it's all good. This still brings me back to why they even removed the option. It wasn't causing any problems at all.

The other thing that probably happens is that the bug or missing this or that might simply be an unintended consequence of changing/upgrading another component. I agree they MUST test and test and test but there is NOTHING like a release to many THOUSANDS of people to learn what ain't workin' right!

I heard of a website for complaints to htc and I don't remember the site. Does anyone know where this can be posted? It was some kind of forum I think

Apologies if already mentioned and also I was made aware by this from another thread.

While streaming (i.e. Pandora) or playing music from the stock player using Google Nav stops the music and doesn't restart when a direction is given by Gertrude or whatever her name is.

This was defintely a nice function and proved the power of Android multitasking with 2.1. Froyo has broken that also, well at least on mine. I sure hope EarlyMon doesn't come back and say a hard reset will fix.

If you've added a Quick Contact shortcut to your screen for a Facebook-linked contact, the icon now has a little word bubble on it to let you know that the person has a recently changed status. Whether or not it's dynamic, I obviously can't say right now :)

Edit: Status is dynamic, will have to wait and see if the photos change.
Did you ever confirm if this is dynamic. Just got Froyo last week and have been trying to figure this out. The icon for the quick contact shortcut on my homescreen has the little word bubble you described superimposed on it but this person does not have any facebook status updates.

I've noticed something that is a LITTLE frustrating for me. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it either, just mentioning it for informations sake. Sorry if it's been covered....there are simply too many posts to try and sort that out.

Anyway, I've noticed that my bluetooth connections, this is AFTER establishing a link, are disconnecting. I guess HTC, or whoever, might have changed the power consumption stats or something like that and even though a link has been established, it pretty much severs itself if it's not used for a while. Actually, I've seen my car and my phone make a connection within about 10 seconds, then within about 10-15 seconds later, my car's bluetooth and phones bluetooth connection is lost. In that short of time....is this something that others are experiencing? Prior to 2.2, I got a connection and it stayed connected until I personally severed it in the usual way.

I am experiencing the same thing, but it is not time based, mine will drop in the middle of a call. Also, my stereo says it is connected, the phone drops its end.

Never had this problem before Froyo.
