Might be worth trying the jig. I have seen it sold online for just a couple bucks. I gave my Prevail to a family member so it is still being used and is working well.

I am trying to figure out how to get rid of root and flash the stock rom so I can give this phone to a friend. Got any leads for me?

To which phone are you referring? If you are talking about the Prevail, then check out the Prevail all things root forum. There is a thread containing links to all the different stock ROMs both rooted and unrooted that you just Odin install it.

For our SGS2 we have a thread on unrooting this phone in our all things root section.

And for what I did with my phone today: I sent some picture messages. some email, surfed the web, and listened to some music.

I am referring to prevail.

I think I found a stock rom but my phone doesnt have the odin mode, hold power and down arrow. so how do I go about returning this phone to complete stock so my friend can do OTA updates and all

It is power button, camera button and volume down, all three at the same time.
 
Installed agat recovery for ga10 with mobile odin lite. Worked like a champ. :) Prevail was my first smartphone. I don't consider my bb 8330 a smartphone. Though it worked great until I got sand in the keyboard. If you need any prevail support, pm me. I have all the tools, files, and tweaks.

I have been wanting to install a recovery for ga10 but things on this phone seem so much more difficult than the good old evo 4g/3d days, so much more to worry about and to flash and different ways to flash it... ughh
 
I've found it easier, better functionality. Seems a couple of good tools go a long way. Love mobile odin, wish I had it on my prevail back then.

Would you mind giving me a direct link to the roms/modems/kernels you use? I have tried to flash a recovery with mobile odin, it instantly restarts and sits on the galaxy screen. I have to one click install GA10 again to get it back in working order.
 
I'm running ga10 stock rooted, I installed mobile odin lite and the d710 apk. I installed agat recovery repack for ga10. Removed bloat, restored my apps, then made a backup in recovery. Here's links to the other forums.

Mobile odin don't work on the prevail and OMG! I'm so stupid.... I thought to get to download mode was power and volume down..... I forgot the camera button. My phone is not hard bricked! Thanks Code... So used to the S2! Also I bricked it trying to use mobile odin LMAO!

I know it doesn't work on prevail, but if it Did, it would have been awesome! Loved my little prevail. Really enjoying my s2. :D

I see with Odin lite you have to flash your own kernel or something. I assume that is the d710 kernel you linked and I downloaded. But I still have no idea how to flash that kernel and then the ga10 repack

It's an apk you install it once you install odin lite. Just that simple.

Edit: have to unzip the file first. Forgot it's a zip.
 
Been enjoying this phone factory stock the past couple weeks. Not sure if I'll even bother rooting. Only reason I customized my Prevail was the lack of space it had. Obviously that isn't such a big issue with the s2

I think if you test drove one of the custom roms you may change ur mind. Just saying:D
