What does this phone NOT do that other high end ones do

What do we know we'd be compromising on with this phone? Some maybe say screen? But I say hey better for battery! Does it have all the other android features? WHY is it priced so good!

No wireless charging, either. That and EMUI are killers for me. If I needed a replacement phone in a pinch, this would probably tops on my list, but as a daily driver? I don't know if I'd spend the $$$.

Big sticking point is NFC and Gyroscope for me.
OH HAI THERE!

But yeah, what my friend in the ridiculous hat said.

Even so, it's some pretty solid hardware for $200 - and EMUI is slowly getting better. Throw a grown-up launcher on there and it's mostly usable.

That lack of NFC and a proper gyro is really a killer though - particularly as Android Pay and Cardboard are becoming more prevalent.

I don't know, I guess I wouldn't personally mind it not having NFC. I don't really do the whole android pay thing, and cardboard for me would be silly. Just because my dog LOVES to eat cardboard.

I'm glad they put in a fingerprint sensor as that and NFC are usually the two main features excluded in budget phones. I don't really use NFC, so that wasn't really a deal breaker for me. I would've liked to have seen usb-c quick charge, but for the price of the phone you can't argue its value.

Interesting that there is no gyro, but as has been mentioned the price the saving grace here. The rest of it looks solid. This might be good for my kiddos since they tend to be rougher on their gadgets and need more frequent replacements.

There's also no Fast Charging or and -- this is a big one -- no dual-band WiFi. That means, if you're in a congested apartment building where 2.4GHz isn't reliable, you can't connect to 5GHz WiFi networks.

That is something I'd disable at the speed of light! I've know persons who have iPhones who have had all kinds of issues and I myself have two laptop computers with that feature and it's been quite a nightmare.

I disabled it a LONG time ago. Not a deal killer for me if that wasn't there.
Maybe things have improved with that technology???? I looked up what it does on this phone and see that there actually ARE some benefits to it. One is butt dialing with your finger (just kidding, I think).

Please forgive me as I know I can look up what gyro is and what it's useful purpose is but rather than do that, can you just tell me short form why this term comes up a lot suddenly and yes, what it is and it's useful purpose?

I appreciate it very much.

One thing that really bothers me is that it's 2016 and every cellphone (iPhone and Android) has something I really don't like so log of times it feels like I'm having to pick my poison.

Iphones are overpriced for the hardware and even the new ones feel slow to me compared to my 4 year old nexus 4

My nexus 4 has inherent problems with Skype and snapchat, but it has global 3g support and scratch resistant glass but no sd card slot

Galasxy s4 has an epic camera, but u basically gotta choose which model u get based on which carrier you want for lte which is a deal breaker for me cus I like vetsatily as life changes a lot and my phone needs to be able to adapt

Nexus 5x is cool, but lot of people reporting that it runs unacceptablely slow for the specs it has and lot of the n4 problems carrying over (never liked lg)

Honor 5x seems awesome, metal build, Lte with att and tmobile, expandable memory, only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have scratch resistant glass, but I guess it's the best for me atm...

It does have a preinstalled screen protector.

oh thats cool, yeah man looking at everything thats out there, i think im gonna go ahead and go with the honor 5x, seems to be the best bet for me, im not really worried about nfc and stuff cus i have yet to find a place to use it yet on my n4, and it does have tethering at least so yah man count me in the honor 5x club in a couple weeks :D

Well right now You can buy a Nexus 6 on Amazon for 215$ and that is for a 32GB model, That would be my pick.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R1984DI?dpID=41zr3x7Mw3L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_SL500_SR85,135_&refRID=G0CBGMVHT5P4070PRH7G&ref_=pd_rhf_cr_s_cp_11

Says $249.00 but that's still pretty cheap for a metal bodied 32GB phone. Not only that, it's got lollipop on it and they are all ready for Marshmallow upgrades (which will eliminate a LOT of the permissions that we have to grant and then take back at the speed of light).

Must be coming from Motorola's refurbs. as they won't be there until later this month, which comes darn fast! Motorola direct is selling them REALLY low too now. $399.00 for a 64GB. Don't know why. IMO that phone is the best I've seen in OVERALL quality (provided one likes the larger footprint, which I absolutely DO. I dislike small/normal sized phones). Most have bugs of one or another. Bug with that one is the darn 2.0 USB port but it also has wireless charging so not that big of a deal.

Well, something's gone amok as the price is soaring already. From $232 - $435.00 U.S.D. on Amazon. YEP... it's a free market but why would Huawei be allowing this???? If they are going to allow that, I think I'm just going to buy a few skids of them and start drop shipping.

It's third-party scalpers, there's not much Huawei can do. Same thing often happens with new iPhones.

Don't empower the scalpers, let 'em eat phone for dinner for a week or so & watch the price drop...............

Or,just buy from AMAZON directly, save yourself the headache:

The scalpers can't get the phone to you any faster than AMAZON can & if by chance they can,is it really worth the 200% price mark-up just to shave a few days waiting time from delivery?

Unfortunately there ARE going to be people that purchase from those morons THINKING they'll be the first one on the block to have one in their paws.

Another big rush to scamming is about to hit e-bay and Amazon too. There is now an injunction against selling Samsung Galaxy phones due to Apple stomping their feet saying patent infringement. So those phones will be being unloaded at the speed of light and not supported in any way at all.

Those devices now banned from sale in the US include the Admire, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy S3, and Stratosphere. Some are older but many peeps still have Galaxy 3's, Notes, and Nexus and all listed were GOOD, SOLID phones/phablets that don't get all finicky.

All of those phones are well past the support from Samsung, its moot as that goes.
Besides, you can get a newer/better phone for much less than what these cost new.
The only reason to get such a device now is if you have a special affinity for the named devices....

In the bigger picture, perhaps this is setting some sort of precedent, which may affect more models at a later date.
Hard to say,I'm not up to date on all the particulars of the on-going p***ing contest known as Samsung vs Apple.
The case vs the phones mentioned today may not have the same alleged patent infringements in later released models.
Stay Tuned........................
