Lurker
Last week my phone died on me. totally dead. I tried to start it back up a couple of times just to see if I could check txt messages, but it was totally dead.
So, then when I got to my car, I plugged in my car charger. When I turned it on, it said something about updating. I didn't get to read the message because the cord got caught, and pulled from the phone, and it died again in the middle of this.
So, when I got home I plugged it into the wall, let it charge a little and turned it on. It didn't say anything about updating this time, but when it came on it seemed like it kinda reset itself. it had my photos, music, and apps, but it didn't remember any of my passwords or anything. But, this isn't the bad part
Every app I run now force closes. I found that if I uninstalled and reinstalled, they were fine, but then Android Market started force closing every time. and I don't know how to reinstall that.
Has anyone seen this happen? Can anyone help me get android market working again?
Thanks

BTW, it also changed my notification sounds. My txt message sound was different and my ringtone was changed. So weird!

that is weird. sounds like it's time for a factory reset if you can get it to stay powered on long enough.

It stays on now. And works fine other than apps force closing. I reinstalled a bunch and they all work fine. But, now Android Market is force closing so I cant reinstall any more apps

Try going into manage applications and clear the data and cache for market.

Argh. Ok. Factory reset. Working fine
But.... I can't download and apps.
Everything is unsuccessful.
guess ill call Verizon.

Same this happened/ is still happening to me, except it deleted all my contacts as well. Could really use some help.

I had the same problem and had to do a factory reset, all seems fine now but not sure what was happening and I also saw the word "update"

So, I did the factory reset and it has seemed to work, but I took it into Verizon just in case, because I've had the random reboot as well. They did a factory reset at the store just so they could have it on record, and they said if anything happened again, they'd get me a new phone.

^^Got to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications

Then, Find the Market app (should be on the list and say Market) select it. Should have two "buttons" that say "Clear data" and "Clear cache" on the screen. Select those.

Took my phone in yesterday cause it deleted all my contacts, again, and it rebooted. Awaiting my new one.
