Before gingerbread i could delete Dialer Storage which was just all my text...it was at 60 mb...now after the update its greyed out and its at 20mb again.

What exactly is Contact Storage? what would happen if i delete that?

Tired of always hovering around 45mb free space.

well if you go into settings/applications/manage applications/select the all tab and find contacts storage, you can scroll down and it will give you the list of all the things that it does. looks like it does quite a bit then just text messages. plus i do not think that you can delete it unless you are rooted which i would not recommend that you do it anyways. it could really mess the os.

well idk what contact storage does. But before gingerbread i could delete dialer storage which is just text storage. Now both are hogging around 60 mb of space....I guess ill just have to get an app to delete my text...

I had a similar problem with my LG Optimus when it updated to gingerbread.

In previous versions of (froyo, etc) the dialer storage was just your call log so you could clear it with your app manager in settings. Now it includes your text messages as well. They probably changed where these were stored within the os so now they are stored in the same place.

You can go to your text messages and start deleting threads and that should lower your dialer storage. You should also be able to go into the settings of your text message app and adjust how many messages it saves per thread.

This is what I did and it helped a lot.
