does this help anyone
For what device and on what network?
No, I cannot view those.
What would help is you answering the question.
Something similar on the BBC news pages, but could see any connection to the S4After some Googling I'm not sure that is something you want to install. I can't really find anything concrete but I'm not sure that it's an official update for the device.
Me neither hence the OP.
Can you pull down the notification shade, longpress the notification and then hit the little "i" button to see what app is causing this notification?
If that's not some legitimate Samsung update, those app permissions would be very concerning.
That's what is in the dropbox link, I jsut tried it and it opened up for me while I wasn't logged on, it sometimes takes a little while to populate.
This may or may not be related, but for good measure: http://phandroid.com/2015/11/04/google-project-zero-samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-vulnerabilities/
Will do that later, thanks for then link I struggle in this forum yet.It appears to be a Samsung firmware update, based on the fact that the named processes in #8 & #9 are proprietary to them.
If "allow unknown sources" is disabled in Settings/Security and the "Verify apps" options are enabled in Settings/Google/Security then you've little to worry about. To put your mind at rest though it's probably worth checking with other users in the Galaxy S4 sub-forum.
Can you confirm the update version number for an S4I remember the update now. The noticeable thing is control over apps to save battery
Can you confirm the update version number for an S4Looks like app that manages software updates. I looked at mine on S4 and s5 and permissions look the same
Can't get rid of it unfortunately.that to me spells hacker.... throw it away.
As above, Can you confirm the update version number for an S4Check system -application -all and you should find something similar on all Samsung phones. It's a system app.
Popped up on your notification bar? Did you go to about phone and use the check for update feature?
Go to about phone>software updates >and click on update now. If it's a legit update, it's going to ask you if you really want to update. If the update notification you received isn't legit from Samsung, you'll get a no update available message.Just looked and it doesn't look like an option on the S4.
