Accessories What is the best droid case?

I'm also interested in the Seido and would be willing to spend the extra money on it if it fits better than the Verizon silicon snap-on case. With the Verizon case, the top right corner with the 3.5mm input wouldn't stay put; does the Seido have the same flaw? Also, another problem I had with the Verizon case was that it was too tacky and would be difficult to pull out of my pocket. How is the tackiness of the Seido compare? Thanks to anyone that can help me.

I've had no problem with any of the corners of the Seidio coming off. So far (1.5 weeks of use) It's been very snug, with no flaws. In terms of the material, it does slide in and out of my pocket with relative ease. Much easier than the silicone verizon case did, but not quite as smooth as the hard plastic verizon case. I've had no real problems getting it in and out of my pocket.

I have the BodyGlove but am liking the looks of the Innocase. I too wonder if it will fit in the car and home docks.

Is anyone able to compare the innocase to the bodyglove? I think the bodyglove is a bit bulky but I'm not taking it off until I find a comparable replacement.

edit:

I just ordered the innocase....
In terms of bulk, I find it much thinner than the bodyglove. I was surprised when I first put it on, it really doesn't add much width to the phone at all.

Got the Seidio last week and really like it. It fits very snugly with no creaking or flexing. It really feels like it's part of the phone. The tolerances are very tight - no gaps, etc. I had full body ghost armor on it and the case fit right over it with no problems. It's very thin and the outside is coated in a sort of semi-rubberized material. It's not tacky but then not slippery either. It does make the keyboard slide action slightly more firm but I think it adds to the generally "ruggedized" feel of the device with the case on. My only complaint is that the top row of buttons on the physical keyboard are now very close to the bezel when the keyboard is open. Makes them a bit harder to hit but I've been using the virtual keyboard more and more so it doesn't bother me that much. I actually like the overall look of the device with the case on it more than with it naked. Highly recommended.
I feel exactly the same way about the Innocase. It's slim and feels like part of the phone. The only issues are the top row keyboard being harder to hit and the seemingly flimsy/thin "clips" on the case which can break if you don't put the case on the right way; there are no instructions even though to easily replace/remove the case you have to put the pieces on appropriately. The case looks like it can take a beating despite being lighter and thinner than a Body Glove.

How to properly put on the InnoCase:

Top: holding the phone in portrait mode but with the physical keyboard open, put the top half of the case on the top of the sliding screen, making sure the hinges are touching the back of the screen. Only then is it safe to snap the bottom hinges onto the part of the screen with the touch sensitive keys without risk of breaking the top hinges.

Bottom: in portrait mode with keyboard open, do the same as above but start with the right hinges before snapping the on the left side hinges to the left of the bottom row of the physical keyboard. The right side hinges can break if you snap them on last.

Removing is simply doing the opposite of the above (i.e. for the top half, pull off the hinges near the touch sensitive keys, then the top hinges near the Motorola logo). Either removing or replacing each half of the case should be near effortless and take no more than three seconds if done properly, so stop I'd you need to use some strength and try to figure out what you are doing wrong.

+1 for Body Glove, it's the best protection out there. There are cases that are slimmer, feel like "part of the phone" etc but Body Glove protects it really well. Combine that with a Zagg Invisible Shield screen protector and you are good to go!

I have both the Body Glove and now the Innocase as well. I like the Innocase better (much less bulky, and love the clip holster).

For those asking, NO - you can't use the Media Dock with the Innocase. It doesn't fit. However, the case comes off without too much fuss if you absolutely need the dock.

I've been searching for a high quality leather case to use sometimes and have come across some that I though I should share with the community. I haven't decided on one yet but will gladly post findings if/when I pull the trigger and would appreciate feedback as well:

Nutshell - I had one of these for a previous phone and loved it but it was sometimes difficult to get the phone out quickly because it's so snug

Sena

Fortte - Used one for a BlackBerry and loved the leather quality but found them to be a bit bulky. Loved that you could get a company logo imprinted in the leather

PielFrama iMagnum - really tempting but the belt clip looks huge

I also checked and found that these luxury case companies do not have a case for the Droid yet (as of 12/22)
Vaja, Bezya and Noreve

Any other suggestions?

I've been looking for a case for my droid and your posts have been most enlightening. The Seidio Innocase Surface sounds like my best bet but I have one question. They claim that it is "- Compatible with our Desktop Cradle" but is it also compatible with Motorola's desk top cradle and car dock? If someone has purchased or purchases one of these cases would you please post an answer to this question? Thank you.

Another user at a different forum site told me that the seido innocase is not compatible with the motorola desk top cradle or car dock. Seido is working on innocase compatible versions of both cradle and car dock as you already know. Personally, I just bought MIKRADLE a few min ago so I'm just waiting for the car dock.

i use a DLO Zune HD arm strap for jogging and working out in the gym. It fits perfectly, and I can still use the touchscreen through the front plastic cover.

What do you think of this case?

I looks like its part of the Droid. Its a silicon rubbery type case. I have had similar cases form my Zune players.I found it off of Amazon. Looks nice...clean and simply. I don't care If I can't access the physical keyboard, I never use it.

do a search for: Amzer Silicone Skin Jelly Casefor Motorola Droid A855
on Amazon.

EDIT: Found the compnay website, Amzer seems to have some nice stuff for the Droid, take a look here: http://www.amzer.com/motorola/Motorola-Droid-A855-accessories.htm

I've heard some of the azmer cases had an incorrect design that led to problems. I think it was more in reference to the shell holster combo though I don't quite remember. Also, they say Azmer makes their cases out of cheap material. IMO i'd buy the best for my droid aka Seido Innocase. now that really feels like theres nothing on the droid while at the same time giving your droid a nice touch and feel to it. $29.95 is definitely worth it!

Again, didnt mean to completely knock Azmer out of the water. Maybe its better than advertised. I wouldn't trust em tho :D

The Sedio Innocase looks very nice. Is it all shiny or is it a nice flat black finish? I'll probably go for the Seido case....is it rubber or some kind of snap together hard case? I need better pics or an explanation to better understand it.

Its a snap on case and its a rubber finish with a nice soft touch. You can check out a thread I made with my full impressions.

here are some forums that have comparison pics:

Hi, I perused this forum yesterday before going to mall yesterday to purchase a case for my Moto Droid. After reading, a few of your posts I decided on the Body Glove. I purchased one at Palisades Mall in Nyack NY for 25 bucks. The sales person at the Verizon store was overly enthusiastic when attempting to put the case on (after watching her for a few seconds I am starting to cringe) so I politely snatch it :o from her mitts, but not before she rips  that plastic film located on the back side of the screen. (but that's another post) where was I? oh yeah! The Body Glove provides a tight fit to my Droid and has a textured rubberized surface that feels secure in my grip. The two pieces of the cover both fit securely to phone. However what I had to do in order to prevent any scuff or slide marks on the front side of phone (near mouth piece) or back side of the screen (near camera button). Using a fingernail emery board I gently smoothed the Glove's attachment tabs down to a level closer the surface of phone body, same done for the screen attachment tabs. Therefore, there is no rubbing, nice snug slide open and close without feeling as though it is too tight. You can use the belt clip, or remove the clip and replace with the provided cap and pocket it. I prefer pocket security. I rate the Body Glove @ 4.5 stars I held back .5 for the emery board work I had to do in order to perfect the fit.

I use the Maxpedition Rat Wallet. It protects the Droid and also holds; wallet stuff, multitool, knife, ear buds and change. Basically all of the stuff I always carry with me.

i am considering getting one of the leather book type opening cases from PDair. my only question is whether the clear plastic they use to secure the droid into the case (and which covers the built in keyboard) still allows you to actually type on it. in the youtube demo, they show someone typing a bunch of random numbers, but not an actual message, which concerns me maybe a little. check it out:

so what do you think of that? does anyone have one of these? can you tell me if they still allow you to use the keyboard? i'm a bit skeptical, but the cases look pretty cool.

Great find! I have been looking for days for a good rugged case and couldn't find any I liked. I originally had an iPhone and an Otterbox, but because of the keyboard, they don't offer a case for the Droid, so I wanted to find something as sturdy. I ordered a best skins ever, and bought one of these cases(same site): PDA Case

i wish i didn't have to use a case for this phone, i dont want to add any more bulk to it. but if i have to, i guess the overall opinion is seidio's? is the difference that noticable in person in bulk and does it cause any problems with the keyboard?

I just bought the shell/ holster case at the verizon store last night. Its perfect for me. The case is fairly slim but still durable, and when the phone isn't in the holster, the case doesn't have any protrusions on it so its still easy to pocket. When it is in the holster, the phone goes face-in so it is protected really well. Its $30, but in my opinion, worth it for the protection it provides.
