what is the droid missing

I have very few problems and the few I did have were solved by rooting and using roms.

One thing I wish we had was sound profiles similar to blackberries. I know there are some apps out there that do this but they dont do it that well imo

The only 2 things I really wish it did better or had are. When your in a call it seems to pop and crackle alot. My second one would be easy voice dialing. Other lower Motorola phones have this and ours dose not.

I'd like the face sensor to be a little better. The screen doesn't always return when the call is completed and it's pretty annoying. Other than a couple of nitpicks here and there, I am pretty happy with it even the the keyboard is horribly designed.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing

Yeah, not really Moto's fault. Although, they (Moto) are supposedly working on their own implementation, which means they could have had it worked out beforehand and ready to ship w/ the phone. They just went cheap on us, instead.

A proper GPS Navigation application like Garmin XT as it does not require data and it works even with cell signals despreatly looking for it :)

Android 2.1 like said above^
and it will be awesome when iphone app developers can transfer their apps to the Android market place!

Wifi tether with out root
Email sigs in corporate mail
Outlook like snooze feature for reminders
flash
Editable excel word etc
nameable favorites in Gmaps
and probably 20 more things I got used to having because my Win OS smart phone had 5 years ago

I have had my Droid (motorola A855) for a month and have played with it non-stop.

I want a hard END button.

If you accidentally make a call which is easy to do thru CALL LOGS, by the time you realize the call is going through you may not be on the PHONE screen to end the call. This would not be a big issue except the screen goes dark and it's difficult to get back to the phone screen in a timely (panic situation) fashion. This is the only phone I've ever owned that didn't have a SEND/END button. There is a reprogramming app out there (button shortcut) which will allow you to program your camera button to do something else but it won't allow you to program it to END a call.

I also would like to lose the keyboard. I don't use it and it's just added weight/size.

More specific shortcuts would be nice as well. I don't want to just have a shortcut of SETTINGS on my main screen, I'd like to be able to drill down to something more specific within settings like to turn on/off GPS.

Mainly, I just want a hard END button.

I agree about the hard button. Hard call would be nice as well. As far as enabling/disabling GPS, the Power Control widget gives you a button for it, as well as toggling data sync, brightness, bluetooth, and wifi. Bluetooth headset would be a decent replacement for the hardbuttons, if the phone supported voicedial. Last dialed just isn't enough.

Thanks for the reply. I have Verizon, Droid, Android 2.01 and do not see Power Control widget in the market place. I don't suppose you have a QR code for it? :D

It's already installed on your droid. Just add the widget to one of your screens like you would any other widget.

Oh that thing, I never paid attention to the name. I thought this was a programmable widget that would allow me to do short cuts to anything not just some things. I was hoping for a soft shortcut to END CALL until I figure out a hard button shortcut. But, Thanks!!

personally i think the people are wanting better email (comparing the droids email systems to BB) are crazy! I have 4 different email accounts coming to my phone, 3 gmail and 1 corporate. love, love, love it so much better than BB. you enjoy having to wait for your email to load as you scroll down the screen!?

I'm with you. I think the droid apps for emailing and texting are awesome. Everything is so seamless now.

I love that I can assign different ringtones to different people's text (via Handcent). This helps differentiate alerts (flights, weather, etc) from people you actually care about talking to on a timely basis.

I like that I can put everyone's info in gmail contacts (including birthdays and addresses) and sync with phone, outlook and internet.

I will be interested to see Phonebook 2.0 (Phonebook 2.0 – Voxmobili.com)

I found something last time I would love for Droid to have; an IR light. Wife lost the remote to our bedroom TV and would have been awesome to use my droid to control the TV (as well as everything else in my house that uses IR).

1. A more precise battery icon, its not accurate enough for me. I really don't think that would be too hard to do.

2. A way to enter your own facebook info into the address book of your phone. I keep myself in my favorites so i can beem my info if need be. But my facebook info an facebook pic don't update on my own phone.

Better app Devs. Seriously, the iPhone's apps are unmatched and you can't even say otherwise. Like today, I just bought a game on my iPod Touch called Angry Birds, and like always, the interface is top-noctch, everything is colorful and vibrant, smooth, purdy, and the game itself is amazing! Yeah they stole the concept, but it's done so much better. I just wish we could have games like this. I see the games people get excited over on Android and they look like **** and play not much better.

A better camera, the camcorder works wonderfully, but the camera is terrible.

Optimization, I feel that our Graphics chip is going to waste, cause everything is not snappy, not even as snappy on a damn Droid Eris.
Angry birds is great I want it on my HTC Hero

Landscape Phone Screen - If the phone is in a horizontal dock, the caller screen isn't rotated. Looks very beta-ish. Should be very easy to fix.

Complete bluetooth profiles - this phone has less bluetooth functionality than a 5 year old winmo phone. Again, should be easy to fix.
