may be another thread on this, but couldn't find one in the Verizon forum.

Can get a free speed test from the FCC, just look in market under FCC

Just got this
2046kbps down
866kbps up
177 ms latency

Wonder if I am being "throttled"?
 
I used Speedtest.net's app.

I can get up 1.8mb download, w/ good service.
My upload was somewhere around 800kbps.
 
hmmm i got 900kbs down and 150kbps up with a latency of 240ms.....and whats really weird is I tried it on wifi and I got 5mbps down and 1.4 mbps up...not a big deal but my isp is 10mbps down.....

This is my second Fascinate and both had the same issue. There has to be some type of engineering issue affecting these phones.

I tested 5 times and this was my highest result
The signal strength on this phone is quite horrible (its not my location, ive lived here fore years with no issues), is there any way to fix this? I have already tried *228 option 2

To be honest, my speed has been much slower on this phone than my Dinc.

I used to be at least 200 kB/s down but on this phone, I'm only averaging around 100 kB/s.


The highest I got out of 5 tries just now is:
884 kbps Down
513kbps Up
115ms
 
It sucks! Side by side with my wife's D2 she consistently gets 50% faster speeds no matter where we test them. My best is usually about 900kbps DL.

I get the same sort of speeds as well. I took my phone to the verizon store once to talk to them about it. They recommend I put the phone on airplane mode every so often to restart the cell chip. It did work and made my speeds like double for a few hours. I shouldn't have to do that though, which is one reason I hate this phone.
 
I just did the "Airplane Mode"/chip reset trick and it didn't change my speeds. Here are my results:

Cleveland Metro Area
"At Work" - cell tower less than 1/4 of a mile away
D/L - 179kbps
U/L - 225kbps

I have an actual "Trouble Ticket" open with Verizon Wireless. We'll see what happens.

Try imnuts' TCP hack (in his current kernels) and the new EC01 (ED01) modem. The latter is amazing stuff.

I'm in SW Ohio, and at work I get less than 25-50 kbps down and 65-90kbps up... I think VZW hates the Buckeyes.
 
I hope that's not an issue with the fascinate as I just recently bought one and waiting to activate it over my lg ally. I get crappy everything like laggy interface from its under powered processory to all kinds of glitches and no flash support but I get rocking download speeds. I get on average depending how the phone is sitting 2.5 mb to 3mb dlownload with 768k to 800k upload consistently at home with strong service and around 120 to 150ms lag.
