what keyboards are u guys using?

Im actually torn between droid x and stock. Droid x has a better layout and i type better on it, but its autocorrection sucks, if i type too fast sometimed i get letter skips, and its slow on forums. Stock is ugly and cramped. I type a lot worse on stock but the autocorrection is so good that its aboht equivalent to my droidx typing. Tried swype, felt unnatural.

My vote: droid x with hopes of an update

Just got an EVO and have always had a slide out keyboard. I go the Moment for that reason. I decided to go with the BEST phone regardless of keyboard, hence my luck and persistance landed me an EVO this weekend. I am having a really hard time with the keyboard and see different ones mentioned here, and some that I cannot find in market to get. What is suggested for the best keyboard? I am making tons of mistakes still and feel like I have finger sausages or something. I typed fast and accurately with a physical keyboard, so its the ONLY drawback to this phone. Other than that, it ROCKS!

Also, if anyone wouldn't mind explain 'multitouch' when talking about the keyboard. I haven't been able to understand some of the lingo and what it is referring to so far. I didn't know what I was missing with the piece of crap Samsung phone I had...this phone is amazing!

if you do a search you will find at least a couple of threads on keyboards...
congrats on the new phone. enjoy!

(I use SlideIt, it's a completely different way to text, and you can try it for free)

I tried to like Swype, but after a couple of weeks, it still didn't feel natural...I had to think about typing far more than the stock (and the size of the keyboard on landscape made it feel slower than stock). I learned to use landscape as much as possible, and to trust the spell correction, and I'm probably just about as fast as I was with Swype.

Swype....i had similar issues although I started to get the hang of it but was just too slow. With swype I can text just as fast as on comp

Is there a reason you're confused?

I can type like 60 wpm or better on a computer but on my phone using Swype there is no way. I actually don't even use it anymore because I am faster typing with the generic default keyboard on the EVO. I guess its because I make spelling mistakes and when I do that with the default keyboard it guesses what I was attempting to say much better than Swype does. I still go back and forth from one to the other thinking I must be crazy for not really liking Swype but, it is what it is I guess.

In regard to the guy talking about voice to text, yes that is amazing but at work I am around people all day and don't want them to know my "private" business, and at home or in the car I can do it though and it seems to work really really well.

Another problem with Swype, I do not see where you can use the speech to text in Swype, only in the default EVO keyboard...

was it too slow? or is it as fast as a when you are on a PC?

Sorry should have spaced it better

I was recommending swype and then went on to say I had similar issues as thread starter with stock keyboard and even when I got used to it I was still typing slow....with swype I type I can type fast

Another Swype user. I had a devil of a time using the stock keyboard but swype has solved that for me. For those using swype and want speak to text, just hit the menu button and the option is there. One extra step but it's there. :)

i use the stock Froyo keyboard. feels just like the droid x keyboard and is prob what i'll stick with from now on

Swype here also. It will take a little time to get use to a touch screen coming from a physical keyboard.
Multitouch is the ability to touch the keyboard in two places at the same time and the keyboard recognize each touch separately. Like holding shift and pressing a latter to capitalize it
