Root What rom are you guys using and why?

Great thread. From what I gather, leak 2 was supposedly the 'official final' right? (i.e. should end up being the same as the OTA 2.1 coming soon)

If so, why have there been ANY issues with it. I can understand why the custom ROM's might have some problems, but not the official leak or the 2.1official-root.

Please clarify for me because I know I'm missing something. :0
 
ive used vanilla droid, aloysius, and currently using sense-able. i like sense-able the most so far and im working on adding and taking things off the rom to make it perfect. i want the lock screen and keyboard off vanilla droid and remove the weather app and widgets but im not sure i want to do that because i dont want any adverse affects. does anyone know if i remove the weather apps and widgets if other things will be negatively affected?
 
I am getting ready to root my Eris and I was wondering what ROM would you all recommend for a noob to install first?
 
honestly it doesn't matter which one you want to try first. Once you get the recovery image loaded, go ahead and load all the different roms you want to try on your sd card. Flash one, play with it, and if you don't like it, reboot into recovery and flash the next one on the list. Try them all untill you find the one you like best.

BTW each time you want to try a different rom you will need to wipe the data and cache from your phone.
 
Has anyone else found Ivan's Eris_Official_0.8.1T2 to be sluggish, esp when compared to stock 1.5? I even have animations turned off, but there is still a 'laggy' feel to it.
 
Aloysius V6 with AutoKiller set to agressive, Spare parts set to fast animation, and leaving the audiofix off..FTW!!! I cannot find anything better out there, fastest and most stable by far..even running adfree ap for a little extra, which kills all my ads

+1 on Aloysius V6maps. This is the next generation Eris. However there is some discussion on XDA as to whether the Reboot Control it uses is proprietary and should be paid for...no problem...$1 on Market.

yup another happy user of Aloysius here. I was about to give up on the eris and go with an incredibe. This rom has breathed new life into this phone. By far the fastest rom i've played with and I think I played with them all.
 
I'm using the eris2.1officialroot only because the sticky had very easy to follow step by steps instructions to load it and because I don't know any better; I'm new to all this phone modding stuf and not that savy with how it all works.
When I rooted to 2.1 also added the wifi tethering (which I love) and the nexus launcher (which I don't love so much, I prefer sense) and live walpapers (which don't work) and removed the htc lock screen (which I liked at first, but now want my htc lockscreen back).
It seems that most people are pretty happy with aloysuis, maybe I'll try that. I just have to figure out how to put it on my phone. Got some reading to do ahead of me...
 
once you have root and the recovery image, loading roms is very simple. Just download the rom (I would suggest only dl'ing roms from grdlocks website) and place it on your sd card. Boot into recovery by holding volume up and send (or dl boot control widget from the market. you press the widget and it gives you all kinds of options to power down your phone) Be sure to wipe data/cache each time you try a new rom. It just keeps things running smoother. Then flash your new rom! Easy as pie!

I suspect that's exactly why the OTA was delayed. They thought it was ready for prime time, but clearly it wasn't. I'd wager the "audio loss" bug is the biggest deal-breaker of all for them, since the others (time without a signal 50%, pictures in gmail, alarm clock volume) are easy to fix and won't make customers quite as angry.
