Root What should I do? .596 to .605

So I haven't been here in a while and I'm not really sure what steps I should take to get my phone up to speed. I am on .596, rooted. I just checked for a software update and was able to download the update but it fails during installation.

What should I do from here? Do I have to do an sbf to get .605?

SBF to 602, then check for the 605 update (settings... about phone.... updates) before rooting.

If I unrooted would I be able to take the .605 update OTA without sbfing? I don't think I've changed anything on the phone, running stock, haven't frozen any apps, etc. I think root is the only thing that is not stock?

I'm not sure if there is an upgrade path from .596 that doesn't include an sbf...could be wrong..

but my suggestion.would be to sbf to .602...take the update to .605...then root that...
