What size is the S2?

I'm not sure if they made two versions or not but everytime I look up specs it always shows up as 4.3 inches but by boost mobile it says 4.5? I'm guessing the one I'm getting is going to be a bigger screen? I seen the S2 before and they look huge compared to my 4.3 screen so that .2 makes a big difference. I'm getting the titanium.

It's a pretty nice size Screen Man. There are about 5 versions of the s2. If boost site says 4.5 than that's what it is.

This version of the s2 is called the epic 4g touch.

Wow, 5 version....

How's the pictures look on 8MP? Daylight? Nighttime?

I saw videos of the S2 test recordings, I'm assuming they are all the same for camera wise?

I would say the biggest problems with Boost Mobile's Samsung SPH-D710 are that the current android FL24 ICS stock build is buggy and a lot of people can't stand it constantly turning the phone off (eventually we'll get an update that fixes that), and that the Sprint 4G WiMAX network coverage isn't ever getting any bigger. So base your decision on that and not the size. Do an image search for Samsung Galaxy S2 and you'll see some have oval-shaped cameras on the back and some are rectangular, so yeah, if you get the phone you better make sure the case you want to buy fits correctly.

If you look very closely you'll be able to see the screen's pixels but they are very very tiny, so it's not the crystal-clearest screen available on any phone, but the size of the screen itself puts the original 4 iphones to shame (I keep my white S2 in a black case and somebody asks me if it's an iphone at least every other month). I personally really like this S2 in spite of the strange menu-pressing defect it had right out of the box - I fixed that though. And overall the Boost/Sprint network has treated me very well.

ZTE phones had the same issue where it will reset. Is there any way of fixing that (like rooting it)?

Just wondering, does boost mobile get the lower end phones or is this S2 better than the other S2s that were on the market?

I want this phone mainly because the camera is better than my phone, the screen is bigger, hoping apps don't close like my warp sequent, faster phone, and faster internet... My 3g is like dial up sometimes but sometimes it's fast as my DSL I used to have depending on area, time of day. I wanted this phone for a long time now.

The main reason why people report the phone rebooting and turning off by itself is because the Epic 4G Touch has an issue with battery inflation which causes that.

Boost Mobile has the same Galaxy S2 Sprint has.

Sprint, VM and BM have the 4.52 inch screen variant with the 1.2 dual-core exynos processor while the others have a 4.3 dual core 1.5 dual-core snapdragon processor.

It's a great phone overall and FL27 isn't all that buggy as people say it is. And if you find a stable ROM (cyanogenmod, paranoid android, etc) it runs even more buttery smooth.

Would buying an extended battery fix that or is it the software on the phone that causes the battery to overheat and then reset?

I did overheat my battery on the warps back then by rooting it and changing something on there.

Ive had the phone since it came out and I have never had a battery overheat or reboot issue. It's a good phone. As I said earlier it's the epic 4g touch variant so anything for it will work. Cases, roms ect

That's nonsense and I beg to differ. I had been running FI22 and I didn't want to update to FL24 because I was rooted through an exploit and didn't want to lose that. But eventually I had to reset my phone, so I tossed on an FG31 factory stock rom and updated it past FI22 to FL24. That's EXACTLY when my phone started locking itself up where I had to take the battery out to reboot. I couldn't stand the lockups so I reflashed FG31, updated to FL24 again, and my phone started locking up once again. So I said 'screw this', reflashed the factory rom again, and this time only updated to FI22 and bingo, my phone is back to its old behavior. No lockups whatsoever. So I installed Fotakill to prevent the OTA update notification from bothering the crap out of me.

So you're wrong, because I had lots of lockups on FL24 that I never had with FI22 (and still don't). For that matter I never had lockups with the build before it either (I think it was FH29) If my battery is messed up then it wouldn't matter which rom I was running, because that's a hardware issue. I'm running FI22 with no problems so obviously my phone isn't borked, right? The bottom line is, I highly recommend that if you get this phone, either don't update the factory rom past FI22, or run a custom rom - just don't run FL24 because it's crap.

There is another issue.

Every two months or so, my phone shuts itself off. When I check the cause: rapid battery drain stemming from Android System/OS.

My issue seems to happen occasionally no matter what ROM I run.

That's interesting, I've never have that happen to me before and I've been running FL24 since it came out until last Saturday when I installed CM10.1.

A few friends, my sister, and a few members of this forum had the same issue but it was all because of the battery being inflated.

FI27 was fine for me too.

I'm wondering where this number 27 build came from? I know there is a GB27 build (I think it's a leaked stock build but I don't know for sure since I've never touched it), but as far as I know the official factory rom updates are in this order:

FG31 -> FH29 -> FI22 -> FL24

So yeah, please correct me if I'm wrong but there hasn't been an official build available OTA yet with the number 27 in it - not for Boost Mobile. I could in fact be wrong; somebody please clear this up for us and thanks.

As for the battery issue, from my perspective, a hardware problem that only expresses itself on certain firmwares but not others isn't a hardware problem, it's a firmware problem. For example, without the keyswap fix my S2 randomly fires the menu key on every android build; that is a hardware problem. But my phone only hardlocks on FL24 out of all the stock builds; that's not a hardware problem that's a firmware problem. Maybe my battery is messed up and I don't know it, but my FI22 is working just fine so probably not. Thanks for your opinions everybody.

Must be Sprint that only received an FI27 update then.
My mistake
