What's a worthy replacement?

OK, so I have spent a good part of the Bank Holiday weekend dragging my wife around phone shops trying to find a suitable replacement.

On my shopping list has been
- Sensation XE
- One S
- One X

Sensation did have an advantage due to it having removable battery & SD card but lost out due to reports of reception issues & ICS not being too great.

So that left the One S & One X, before handling both I had reservations about both. Mainly I was not sure if the X was physically too big or that the S didn't have enough storage.

Having now handled them I decided the X was not really that big and although it was not as nice a finish as the S it was still acceptable.

So you would have thought the X would have been my choice, well so did I..........Until I got home and found on XDA that battery life is none too great, with people changing over to the S.

Argh.....Still can't decide. I suppose it boils down to whether or not 16GB is enough. I know the SGS III is looming on the horizon but I never liked the build or shape of the SGS II and I am quite a fan of Sense. I also looked at the Xperia but was not impressed.

I'm probably buying a One X tomorrow. I've read mixed reports about the battery but most say it lasts a day, which is fine for me, plus I've heard HTC are releasing a fix in the next week or so which apparently improves the battery. I did look at the Xperia but it looks and feels a bit too plasticky for me, I'd rather a new phone had the latest version of the OS, and like you I also seem to be one of those rare people here who really likes sense.

Hmm, I'm still in Limbo. The latest SGS3 rumours are talking about no accessible batteries and no expandable memory. Speculation aside, it's such a common theme I'm lead to believe that it probably will be the case.
Anyone else who is due to upgrade decided on their next phone yet?

I can't decide either, my contract finished 2nd April so I have switched to a sim only 30 day contract for now. I do like the One X but would like to see the SGS3 first, I am also not keen on signing up for another two year contract because of the possability that 4G may arive next year.

Get a 4g phone then? Imho in the UK, we cant even do 3g well in cities so I don't have to worry about such things.

Held a one x today. Felt nice. Guy who showed me it said it only felt a bit quicker than his desire. Felt smooth though. Screen was vibrant, ill give it that

I'd like to play with both the One X & S before I dismiss them completely as I might be pleasantly surprised. I suppose having a little while longer to wait I get the bonus of all the customer reviews and all those bugs ironed out.

I've dismissed them simply because I know they'll be everywhere. Every time I see a desire, I get a little bit sad. I got this in part, to be different.

But the more people have them, perhaps the more devs will have a play?

I've upgraded my Desire to the One X and it's a huge amount better. I've only had it 3 days but the battery has improved a lot already, it took my desire a couple of weeks to settle down and give me decent hours use.

In some apps you can't really a notice a difference in speed but the ones that are processor heavy are much much better. For example, Google Music was very slow on my Desire with 10,500 tracks and album covers to scroll through, now its super speedy with no lag at all :)

The camera is 1000 times better than the Desire, pretty much no lag at all while taking photos and the quality isn't bad at all, probably not as good as the Sony's but after using one of the new Sony's at Mobile World Congress it just didn't feel that great to use in general.

Its very light and thin which is great but, I need to get used to only holding it around the edges because most of the front of the thing is screen! whereas on the desire you could the bottom part to hold it.

So far there are no regrets. I was going to hold off until the GSIII was released, but as per all gadgets, you might never get anything if you wait until the next best thing!

Just had a play with the One X.. It looked and handled very nice! Nice enough to make up for a lack of accessible battery and expandable memory? I don't think so.

Also played with the OX today and that thing is a lot bigger than I thought!

Now I really don't know which one to get in July! :(
