What's a worthy replacement?

Just had a look at the white 1X today, and now I'm even more in love with it. Even the wife was impressed, and its been a while since I showed her ANYTHING that hard or smooth that impressed her....

Lol the only thing with the white one is going to be if you like reading newspapers etc, i think you may find the print likes the one x finish as an alternative home.

The 1X is just too damn big for me. 1S hits the mark sizewise. But that would rule out the Ascend D Quad XL,and presumably the SIII, based on size alone.

I really want the removable battery, though, as well as the SD card slot if either the xl or sIII have them!

Damn!!! Why so hard!?

The latest rumors of the S3 show it to be with no sd card slot & no removable battery, think thats the way things are going but the S3 may also come in 3 sizes 16gb, 32gb & 64gb but again its only rumors at this time.
Some people in the One X forum are having problems with sense crashing when doing certain things & also on some websites, Personally i suspect its network branded phones as i am getting none of those problems on mine. Mine for the record is an non network phone just as HTC release them.

It really depends on what is too large for you.

Here's a quick size comparison against some HTC models, with the phones ordered by width:

HTC Desire: 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm
Ascend D Quad: 129 x 64 x 8.9 mm
Ascend D Quad XL: 129 x 64 x 10.9 mm
HTC One S: 130.9 x 65 x 7.8 mm
HTC Sensation: 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm
HTC Desire HD: 123 x 68 x 11.8 mm
HTC One X: 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm

So the D Quad XL is 3mm thicker than the One S but 1mm narrower, smaller in both width and thickness than the Sensation, and quite a bit narrower than the DHD or One X. I would always wait until I see one for real, but on paper it looks really very compact for what it offers.

I read some of that stuff today, but as far as I could see the "news" sites were inferring that there would be no SD slot because of the rumour that it would come with more than one internal storage option. What that "logic" overlooks is that the SGS2 already comes in 16GB and 32GB flavours and does include an SD slot.

It seems to me that these people know nothing more than we do right now.

got to admit i was put off by no sd card slot, but then i thought about it logically the sensation xe has a card slot but even with a 32gb sd card you end up with around the same as the one x.
Another way of looking at it as well is onboard ram is usually quicker but not always than sd card memory due to the different interface

Also, if it is using the same method to access the SD card as the Galaxy Nexus, you should also be able to access all your apps on the phone and even the data while connected to the computer and transferring stuff around.

also running all the apps from the internal memory means EVERYTHING will run ALOT faster. I've had some real problems in the past with sd cards grinding my phone to a virtual standstill.

i can do this on my XS

I find it hard to imagine the S3 will be a minor upgrade as it's up against the rumoured iphone5.. I think it will be pulling all the stops out. Just got to wait and see.

Ah but an SDXC card has 64gb of storage. That's what I've got in my Desire.

That is making for an interesting read. Thanks for the side-by-side!

My initial impression is that the screen of the 1X is so large that I can't really handle the phone with one hand.

The thickness of the D Quad XL does not worry me at all. I prefer that, actually...

As you say, nothing is going to be certain until you have handled the phone yourself.

For anyone who is interested i ran a test on antutu on my One x yesterday & it hit 10022 which is faster than the asus transformer prime which hits 10000.
Got a system update today & now it hits 11219

Word from phones 4u is the S3 has been put back & its to do with samsung wanting an overlay similar to the sense 4 version, how close to the truth is anyone's guess but the sense overlay is widely acknowledged as the best around.

That could be annoying. The closer the OS is to the original source the quicker we'd hopefully get updates to play with.

I would have thought that they would upgrade the screen as well, still only got a couple of weeks to wait to see what comes about.
