personally, I haven't found any significant battery life improvement with the H8 firmware upgrade. I'm starting to think it's something Android related, and not Galaxy related, so we need to wait for Android 1.6 (where I hope it's fixed).
 
my phone still drains battery big time. it's working 99% of the time, can't wake up in the morning without seing him shut down, any suggestions

I did a factory reset, but it did not help.

EDIT: I don't know why, but the phone reset and after that I could add the APN... No idea what happened.

There is something funny going on with the APN's in H8. I did do a factory reset, and I can add APNs. BUT, if I change the MCC and/or MNC number (I'm not sure which does it), the APN vanishes. I'd experiment with it more, but I hate typing all that stuff in, and everything seems to be working even with wrong MCC and MNC numbers.

most mobile networks do not use those features so changing them would be pointless. only change those if you know what they are supposed to be
 
Well, just on 1 day i seem to have had improved battery life. Normally I struggle to make it through a day, but yesterday I didn't plug it in frrom about 3pm, using email, background sync and a fair amount of twittering / web surfing. I didn't plug it in overnight yet this morning still about 50% charge, when normally it would have been flat as a pancake.

I'll do some more vigourous testing today and report back. Other than that no toher major improvements I've notcied. Wish the swicther app could be come a widget and not just a popup.
 
Mine does the same thing and batterylife has not improved at all after H8. Could it have an effect that when i reseted my phone there was still some files and folders left when i checked with ASTRO (picsay, photosafe for example).

I'll check thqt partitial thin once i get home.

Well, I am gonna do new factory reset now, and see if it has any effect. My partial wake time for android system was quite low, maby one tenth of the bar. Other apps were almost totally blanck.

Luckily it doesnt take long to reset this phone :)
 
The same files are still there: every single download with steel, PicSay folder with pics from my first setup etc. Everything is on my phone and everything is usable (steel downloaded music works and I am able to open the pics as well)

What the hell should I do to really erase my phone?! :confused:

I did the factory reset from SDcard&Phone storage - factory data reset. Then it just flashed me one line of text (something about recovery mode) and the phone started.

Hi, that was bugging me for few last days too, as you can see from my post above. Too erase everything you need to format internal SD card but you don't want to to that because the problem you have is related to the case you got with your phone. Try to place it on a surface without case and than try to check phone battery after some time. Written on samsung: )
 
Nice to hear all the feedback about upgrade to H8 ROM. I'm still at loss where to get the package for Odin thought. Any pointers ?
 
a) it's posted in about a billion places on this forum, and

b) do you still need IH8? II5 is the newest f/w we have. For the link, see a).
 
its got similar issues but much more stable than h6 and g8.
ive gone to i5 and feels a bit smoother than h8
 
yes first looks I5 looks faster. BUT, i LOST my 3G network - so i don't have data connections to the internet...

Maybe i miss some configuration? I set on "use wireless networks" and reboot with no success...
 
BTW, i lost also my hebrew support....

Why for sake Samsung don't support hebrew???

Maybe i will go back to my supplier firmware...unless i can bring hebrew to life in some way...!?
